You can go there visa free now as well if you are a NZ citizen, for up to 15 days.

I've noticed with the app update, they removed voice conversation for free users. You now have to subscribe to their plus plan.

Have you tried asking for a public IP from Contact? They don't offer fixed IP addresses but it should be free to get a public one.
