$50 Free Credit for New Customers ($5 Payment Req.) @ Vultr (Web Host)

Update: Just go directly through to link. No need for referral.

Just saw that my VPS provider is running a promo when someone asked about web hosting.

You get a $50 credit to try it out, if you eventually spend $75 then I get $25 out of it, but plans start at $2.50 and my plan has been $10 a month for the last two years so I'm not counting on that. It is referral only but I genuinely think it's a good deal as I've only had a glowing experience with them.

It's genuinely a trial as you needn't set up payments to use it, if your credit eventually runs out your account will be deactivated.

A VPS (virtual private server) is pretty much a Linux box run by a datacenter that you have full control over, and normally you'd turn it into a webserver or a database server for a phone app. If you're currently paying more than $5 a month for managed hosting then I would recommend trying it out.

I personally moved from iPage (managed shared hosting) and my single site Wordpress site dropped from several second load times to less than a second (around 700ms). I now host around a dozen sites off my VPS.

You will need to dabble a bit, but I learned everything I needed to configure it for hosting from DigitalOcean articles https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-inst…

Would recommend the $3.50 plan, that's plenty to run a WordPress site or two and you get an ipv4 address which is more convenient for setting up DNS records with a third party domain provider.

Must link credit card and put $5 payment.

  • Tried via referral and created an account. Does not seem to work since I'm not getting the $50 credit and its asking me to link my credit card =/

  • Might need to update on some of the details. Seems like you have to link a form of payment before you can deploy server or else you can't use it. The minimum amount to link a credit card is $5 which is what keeps popping up when I try to link a credit card without adding any credit. The $50 credit you get seems to expire in 30 days which is what it says under my $50 credit.

      • No, its account credit for site purchase usage only.

  • Perhaps it's part of the promo but it didn't mention it and I definitely don't have a card linked. They bill me monthly and I pay via PayPal.
