US $1 Per Year (~NZ $1.50) Web Hosting with 50GB SSD Storage + More @ Profound Host

71

Profound Host is proud to share our new cPanel Shared Web Hosting plans starting at just $1 / Year!
Our packages are perfect for WordPress, Joomla, PrestaShop, Magento & MORE!

About Profound Host
Started in 2017, we created the first budget option for small business owners to host their websites. We then moved into forum and e-Commerce hosting in 2018, and have since grown into a host that can handle any size website or database, has a dedicated support team to provide help to our customers, and plans with prices that'll make you ask "whats the catch?"

What's The Catch?
We don't exactly have a "catch". We provide top quality web hosting to our clients for extremely low prices, and that's what we do… We don't cheap out on our server quality. We have servers with Gigabit connection and Layer 4 and Layer 7 protections that handle almost any attack. Our servers are dedicated to hosting websites, and are not shared with other users or virtualised in any way.

  • Can anyone tell me if this is any good? For a cheap simple music/band page web hosting plan

    • Hi there. For a small page, our $1 / Year is perfect. 50GB of storage is a heap and you get Unlimited Traffic and Email Addresses with that plan too.

Check out our website. Our site is hosted in the same location and on the same servers as the servers we sell. If you like the speed/load times, they should be
~ the same ~ on your site (as long as your sites software doesn't cause major latency)

      • Thanks for the quick response, so after the first year of hosting for $1, how much would it cost per year after that?

        • +1

          $1

          • @ProfoundHost Harry: Thanks, I have sent you an email

          • @ProfoundHost Harry: Can I buy more than one year to lock in the price?

            • @ognsoign: We are looking at revising our packages in September, however, if you have purchased a package, you will only be billed for the original price of that package for life.

For instance, if you paid $2.50 for a plan now, and in September we remove that plan from our store, next year you will be able to renew that same plan for $2.50

  • Does this include domain name registration?

    • No. We are not a domain name registrar.

However, please contact our support team and we can help get you a (.com) domain name for just $1 through ionos (1&1).

      Thanks

  • Sounds like everything is $1! We done.

    • Who doesn't love things for a dollar?

  • Unfortunately, I renewed my Hostinger unlimited shared hosting account for another 4 years recently. If not, I would have gone for your Unlimited SWH - $20 /Year. :-(

    • We are always available when you need us :)

      • Would I be able to get it for a similar price in the future as well? Also, I guess this is not shared hosting?

This is cPanel Shared Web Hosting (as stated in our ad)
          - Our gimmick is ultra cheap hosting. Has been since 2017, and will remain that way.

Test server IP is OVH Singapore.

Domain profoundhost.com is just 2 weeks old.

You can play around with it but don't put anything important there.

    • We've been operating under Synful since 2017. Profound is just a subsidiary for "ultra cheap web hosting".

      Thanks for you interested though.

What are the CPU and memory allocation of the $1 a year deal?

        • 32GB of DDR3 Memory and a Xeon-D processor.

You can contact our technical support team for more information.

  • is it Linux or windows server?

  • Sorry but something sounds dodgy, a CPanel license costs more than that.

Cheapest plan is $1.20USD per year per user. So it is, at a minimum, costing you at least 20c per year for the lowest tier excluding hardware and bandwidth costs (assuming it's using spare hardware.

    https://cpanel.net/pricing/

I guess fundamentally all users risk is losing their hosting and a few dollars, but I probably wouldn't put anything on there without having your own personal backup system above and beyond whatever is offered, even if that means manually copying the files across every once in a while.

    • Either dodgy or you haven't done the maths properly and you have a Bret super straw scenario. "What you lose per unit you recoup in sales volume"

      http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0135.html

      • Majority of our sales come from the unlimited or 150GB packages:
~ 30% of users have the unlimited plan
~ 30% of users have the $2.50 plan
~ 30% of users have the $1 plan
< 10% of users have the $5 plan

        • So 30% of your customers have fixed costs greater than revenue?

          Plus variable costs.

And I'd guess 30% more have variables greater than $1.30 per year (24c/KWh+GST in Singapore, so call it a draw with the USD ignoring GST and conversion, 5.41KWh of power. 0.0148KWH per day, or 15Wh per day, so less than 1W available to stay under the power cost. Let alone the actual hardware cost).

Or 60% of your customers are costing you money.

What's the conversion rate to $5+ plans?

Sorry for all the questions and disbelief. Your intentions are probably good but I can't see it being viable in any way shape or form in the long run. There's a reason most shared web hosts charge $10USD per month (after promo periods expire and you're locked in), or at least charge a margin on the variables. It seems to be a glorified charity if everything is legitimate.

Disclaimer: I'm not a web host but I have a server in my basement that hosts my own websites. If the maths worked out, I would have totally bought in for a buck a year for a test environment. I also pay for the VPS with another provider which hosts my stuff that is very uptime sensitive.

Disclaimer2: A couple of my friends are signing up, but whilst they're paying you money, I think they're costing you money to be there.

          • @danvelopment: Thanks for your concern.
We are a subsidiary of a stable hosting company that has been operating for 3 years. Rest assured, your friends are always welcome on our service and are not costing us a whole heap.

Feel free to contact us at [email protected] and we can clear any further inquiries up for you.

            Thanks,
            Harry
