    I have had several of these lights, purchased from reliable sources, and they have all failed in a short period.
    This includes turning on and off randomly (including when sitting on my beside table), and going through batteries very quickly.
    On the plus side, they are bright (and will wake you up if on your beside table).
    I wouldn't trust these as a main or backup light.
