  • After the TCL 65 inch tv. Retailing for $1189 any idea what it would get down to?

    Edit : NVM it's back upto $1499

Generally supplier driven discounts are far superior than these "cost" plus promotions.

Dazza is onto it. Don’t even waste your time!!!!! BIGGEST load of crap excuse of a ‘SALE’ if I ever saw one!

    • -2

It's not a public sale, it's a friends and family of Warehouse Group employee discount. And there are some epic deals to be had - I used to work in the group and had the discount for years.

      • +2

I have attempted to use this discount multiple - is it always a BS sale.

        • -1

Lol. I can assure you it's not. I had the discount for years. You just need to use it on high margin products.

  • Has anyone actually ever scored a deal through one of these?

I’d expect high markup consumables / side products to be ok.
    Things like mice/memory card/screen protector/cables
    etc perhaps?

    • You can sometimes get good deals on more random products - like hair straighteners etc - but the sort of products you would normally go to NL to buy like appliances or TV's or electronics - even including stuff like memory card usually not compared to what you can do with a bit of pricespy or ordering from offshore. The biggest downside is its trial an error, you have to ask about it all to find out the price which is annoying and time consuming.

    • good deals on things that don't have rebates and don't often go on sale. eg. Hifi furniture, speaker stands, accessories, spare parts for appliances.

I used to work in the Warehouse Group so I had the cost+5% discount for several years. There are definitely some good deals to be had. Items like laptops, phones, cameras etc don't have a huge markup to begin with (often less than 10-15%), so don't expect too much of a discount.
The real savings come from accessories like cables, memory cards, camera lenses, bags, etc, and also white ware and some appliances. At one point I remember getting around $500 off a camera lens, and a dish washer for about half price. I also used to get 3 year warranties for less than $10. So there are definitely good deals, you've just gotta focus on the high margin items.

Cost plus gst is always been a scam. No matter what retailer. Used to work in retail industry. There head office always masks the true cost to the company.

    • -1

I used to work in the retail industry too, I got many epic deals with my cost+gst discount.

  • Has anyone had a chance to go in and price anything yet?

    Particularly SD cards.

  • +1

I find it annoying to have to go into the store to find out the price. Does anyone know if they will reveal price using online chat?

  • always an underwhelming sale.

it's not the cost of the product… it's THEIR cost- including storage, rent, staff fees, admin, handling and all sorts of fee. And a +5-7.5% margin.

Pretty much how a retailer works.
