cheapies

Hi Cheapies.

I'm a first time caller, long time listener! If this post breaks any rules, please let me know.

Currently selling for $29 + shipping but making them $26 incl shipping for Cheapies friends and family.

I've benefited a lot over the years from Cheapies deals and have seen a few posts for face masks over the last week or so. Since this is one of the fields I work in I thought I would throw a deal your way if anyone is interested.

These masks are certified to European standards, which is also complient in NZ. I have sold these to families, businesses and medical facilities (as non-medical face masks).

These are in NZ and ready to ship.

  • How is the quality and feel compared to a typical surgical mask?

    • Hi there. They feel exactly the same. These are just made for civillian use as opposed to nurses and doctors.

  • Certified to what standard?

    • These have GB classification for non-surgical masks.

      • GB as in Great Britain? Did you know GB was not a part of Europe :D

  • What is the country of origin?

    • These are made and tested in China. Thanks.

  • this does not seem to be surgical mask, if this the case i doubt these masks can provide necessary protection.

    • These are non-surgical 3 ply disposable masks. They have the much needed melt cloth layer to prevent moisture particals in or out. Thanks

  • Hey, when I go to order from this link, it still adds shipping with the cheapies code applied.

    • It also only deducts $9 instead of $12 for 4 boxes ordered.

      • You will need to make 4 orders if you require 4 boxes and apply the coupon code each time.

    • Hi, yes it does but the total should still equal $26. We have had lots of successful cheapies purchases through the website with the coupon code today.

  • All good, will have a look again :-)

  • Just paid $113 for 4, this is $28.25 per box.

    • Hi. I will sort a refund of $9 back to your credit card. :-)

  • I don't think these masks are going to protect as well as the Zuru Bactive ones which are Type IIR, ASTM LEVEL 2- moderate barrier to low to moderate levels of spray and fluid, whereas the N95/ KN95 are LEVEL 3- barrier for moderate to heavy levels of spray and fluid. Procedural masks are LEVEL 1- low barrier for low risk nonsurgical procedures and exams that do not involve aerosols, sprays and fluids.

I am just making it clear so everyone can make an inform choice. Buy what fits your purpose.

I am not associated with either, or any related products.

    • Hi Changal. Thanks for the definitions you provided. I have seen people walking about with bandannas and scarves as a face mask, neither of which will provide a decent level of protection. These face masks on offer will be more than sufficient for the majority of NZers, though I would agree with the Ministry of Health's opinion that those at high covid risk or the elderly should consider a surgical mask.

These are perfect for general use around and about the community. Whether that is at the workplace, on public transport, or out and about in town. Like I mentioned earlier, these face masks have the much needed melt cloth layer which will stop liquid/moisture particals passing through the face mask.

    • +1

The Zuru bactive ones are Type IIR but this is NOT equivalent to ASTM level 2. It's slightly inferior. And N96/KN95 are not rated for medical use in terms of fluid resistance. Only surgical N95 and equivalent are tested and accredited for fluid resistance.

Thank you for trying to make things clear but your information is not 100% accurate. But you are right these masks will probably not protect as well as a Type IIR mask but that's why the OP wrote he sold them to medical centres as non-medical masks.

I am not associated with either product either. Just a mask user.

  • Thanks! I l was confused with the amount of products available myself so I had done some research. I have found multiple links pointing to Type IIR Masks being equated to ASTM LEVEL 2- tested to have a BFE of (filtration efficiency) 98%-this is a requirement for it to be classified as Type IIR. The R of Type IIR actually refers to its fluid resistency. I trust the source of the Zuru masks given the government's endorsement of them.

There are probably more sites indicating of this, but here are some of the links

Again, I am just hoping to clarify so everyone can make an informed choice on price, value and purpose. Everyone is different. There is no right or wrong, just fair comparisons to be made when you are looking at these. Personally, I do not feel I need N95 but you may feel differently because e.g.you work at the airport, age, existing health condition. Or, you do not need to wear a mask everyday, ie. Working from home. It depends on your circumstances.
