You don't remember the adverts? "We put the good things in, so you can wear the DOLMIO GRIN!"
This isn't a bad deal I guess but doesn't really seem a great deal at least in the North Island or especially Auckland. Both Pak'n'Save and Countdown semi regularly have Dolmio Pasta sauces for $2.99 or $3. I would say from what I've seen if you're counting both, maybe at least once every 1-2 months? Free shipping does mean you can get this whereever without a fuss, but in the North Island it might not be worth ordering 10 or something even if you really like it unless your local Pak'n'Save and Countdown don't stock this flavour.
Pak'n'Save Lincoln Road currently have Dolmio Pasta sauces 2 for $5 as part of their $5 week (single unit price $2.99) including this flavour https://www.paknsaveonline.co.nz/product/5021343_ea_000pns?n… . However that will vary between store like most Pak'n'Save deals and 2 for $5 or $2.49/$2.50 is rare for Dolmio sauces I think. Unlike Leggo's where they seem to have it that price a lot. You may also sometimes get them for $2.80 or $2.79 I think. But I'm really not sure especially since I barely looked at pasta sauces for 3 years or so and it was mostly last year where I started looking again and it was something significantly affected by the pandemic.
For other Pak'n'Saves, I had a quick look and Westgate is $3.49. Royal Oak, Sylvia Park, Glen Innes, Botany, Papakura, Pukekohe, Silverdale $2.99. Mt Albert, Māngere, Manukau don't seem to stock this flavour although do have Dolmio sauces for $2.99. Clendon have Dolmio sauces for $3.09 but doesn't seem to stock this flavour. Ormiston and Albany don't seem to stock any Dolmio sauces. (To be clear no 2 for deals for any of those)
The situation outside Auckland isn't so good from my very quick look since neither Clarence Street or Mill Street have Dolmio sauces. Actually pasta sauces in general looked expensive as Mill Street, but not so bad at Clarence Street. Te Awamutu did have a 2 for $5 with this flavour stocked although their single unit price was $3.69! But other sauces didn't seem so expensive there so might just be typical Pak'n'Save weirdness.
Countdown mailer deals are North Island wide so provided you have stock Countdown is an option although possibly only 2 months or worse frequency for $2.99/$3. (Not sure, I don't really pay that much attention.) This flavour is more poorly stocked than some of the more popular ones I assume as can be seen from the Pak'n'Save results. Although Hobsonville New World https://www.newworld.co.nz/shop/product/5021343_ea_000nw?nam… ($3.79) and Birkenhead Countdown https://shop.countdown.co.nz/shop/productdetails?stockcode=7… ($3.99) seem to have it along with the Pak'n'Save.
(The pasta clearance does seem to be a good price since cheapest I've seen tends to be around $0.80/$0.79 for the homebrand budget ones I think.)
I never expected such an in depth analysis of pasta sauce prices on cheapies.
Good job.
