Opas.com USA Freight Forwarding Service: US$20 Off First Shipment / US$10 Review Credit / Switch Credits

120
FIRSTSHIP20

I was hunting around for alternatives for YouShop because of their Li-Ion policy. Also, their Economy tier is sea-freight so painfully slow. I've found Opas.com to be pretty reasonable.

Pros:

  • Tax-Free Oregon Warehouse that does not require a subscription to use.
  • $20 USD off first shipment (Enter "FIRSTSHIP20") - I can't recall if its right after you signup, or when you go to pay for the item, but it does work.
  • $10 USD if you leave them a review (https://opas.com/reviews/)
  • $10 USD Switch Credit - details here (https://opas.com/switch-to-opas/)
  • They actually answer and oblige packing requests, if I have items I know won't get damaged, I tell them to pack as small as possible (to save cost) and they do.
  • Consolidation with full-retail packaging removal
  • Fairly linear pricing structure, no surprises

Cons:
- Use USPS and UPS, so can get quite pricey quickly.

  • Thanks! Last item I shipped was with fishisfast last year but as most shipping costs increase its good to find alternatives and discount codes. Appreciate the post

  • How would GST get charged with services like this?

"If you're bringing items to NZ from overseas that cost NZ$1000 or less you don't have to pay anything to Customs, as GST is collected when you purchase your items."

      https://www.ird.govt.nz/gst/gst-for-overseas-businesses/gst-…
"Overseas businesses, online marketplaces and redeliverers need to register for GST when their total supplies of goods and services to New Zealand consumers either:
were NZ$60,000 or more in the last 12 months
will exceed NZ$60,000 in the next 12 months"

I expect they would be a 'redeliverers' so if they do more than NZ$60,000 in a year they need to register and charge/collect GST.

  • I was looking at the SSUPD Meshlicious case and was wondering if you guys had any suggestions of getting it over here.

PCCasegear were the closest from across the ditch, but said they wouldn't ship internationally.

Newegg won't ship direct to NZ since they aren't the ones fulfilling the order. Going through Opas quotes me: $120~ USD for the shipping - discounts I guess to get it here.

Cost of the case is $109 USD/$169 AUD so I just hope shipping it here doesn't cost more than the case.

    Any ideas?

    Package dimensions (L x W x H)
    415 mm x 220 mm x 310 mm
    3.7KG weight.

    • It’s both reasonably heavy in weight and volumetric size. So going to cost more than that. Best bet is Amazon.com.au if it’s on there.

Ask if the Australian retailer will ship with Aus Post - they are pretty reasonable

      • Got this as a response from them earlier:

"I’m afraid that at this stage we cannot accept any international payments or ship overseas."

Usually haven't had an issue with other retailers shipping from Oz.
