Used to work for NL, they are a cheap and nasty "giveaway", "sale closure" sound bars.

Same model has been around for 7-8 years.

Unless you have an old tv, these are worse than the down or rear firing speakers on the newer TVs.

I got one at the same price, actually it is pretty good if you just want a compact one, I got x80h Sony tv and the sound quality from the tv itself is terrible. Of course get a 2.1 if you can pay double the price, otherwise I'm quite happy for the quality at $99 (but not the originally price)

  • Can anyone recommend a decent soundbar that you can find on sale or is $500 or less

    • I personally have the LG SN5Y. Its not the most powerful but I paired it with the LG SPK8 wireless rear speakers and Im happy with them.

    • Sony HT-X8500 when its on special

i cannot recommend any soundbars. an av receiver with speakers is what you want for great sound quality and surround sound immersion. i have previously used a soundbar and once i upgraded to a real system I can never recommend soundbars ever again. the difference is night and day. if you want a fake surround then go ahead. i can highly recommend a av receiver with speakers instead.

      • thats like saying i cant recommend a Fiat when i have the budget for a Ferrari.
Soundbars beat TV speakers anyday and it doesnt kill your wallet

have you ever experienced both before? if you haven't then please go away

          • @fsmith: Nice assumption,
that link is literally some person who is very opinionated against soundbars with no sources to back up their argument.

All I'm saying is that there's a market for soundbars, even your opinionated link says that they are better than tv speakers haha

Find me an av speaker setup that's better than $500 new soundbars. With wifi connectivity and 4k video included.

Literally pointless arguing this as it's same a consoles vs PC for gaming.

            • @Kdzc83: have you done any research or are you just naive to think that fake surround with sound-waves bouncing around the room vs actual speakers with actual and accurate surround sound is great. if you are going to keep debating this and not accept that av receiver with speakers is significantly better. (night and day difference) then i have no choice but to refuse to engage with you as i cannot discuss soundbars. its worth the investment regardless of budget.

In my earlier post I did mentioned that I had to return it as it was just marginally better from my old TV so had to return and since dont recommend this to anyone unless he does not have any sound output at all

  • Soundbars at this price range are not very good.
Better off with a quality micro hifi system connected to the TV.

Yup under $300 2nd hand market is far better,

can get some decent 2.1/5.1 setups (bought a Panasonic home theater 5.1 setup with wireless rear speakers for $275 few years back)
