  • Got one. Also noticed that there's 0.5% surcharge for visa cards but none for Amex? Not sure about Mastercards as we don't have one.

    • Yeah Amazon doesn't like Visa.

    • No surcharge on visa debit, if anyone is wondering

  • Very tempted but on the fence whether we need a battery or corded one. The battery would be easier as we need much more than 10m of cable but the battery will probably run out before we finish the job.

    • Whicht corded one?

      • The mower in the deal is corded.

Unless you're prepared to pay a lot of money, battery mowers are trash.

I switched from a $400 lithium-ion mower to an 1800W corded and now get my lawns mowed in a quarter of the time total in a single mow, as opposed to stretched across two days. Even dragging around the 15M cord.

Lithium Ion cells, at absolute maximum are like 8C output. So a 5Ah 36V battery set at absolutely maximum could knock out 1400W. But real output is like 4C or less. So 700W on a large 5Ah 36V battery. An 18V mower is half that again.

Just don't be like my lil brother and mow over the mower cable 😄

Is that why DIY stores don't have demo models for you to try out?

        • Shruggie, you don't realise your folly until you actually go to mow on a battery mower and have to either stick it at a very high height (and possibly do multiple passes), walk much more slowly or have it constantly choke on thick grass.

They sound just as powerful, but they're absolutely not, so they'd probably demo fine.

@danvelopment: I had the luxury of borrowing a mate's cordless electric line trimmer. $500 still can't compete with my corded $100 barely used secondhand Ryobi. I did upgrade the head to take the thicker 2.4mm lines, still costs around $20.

The black and decker items also look to be eligible for free shipping to NZ… That's crazy ;)

    • hello competition

      • Indeed long may it last too…

The corded electric Black & Decker chainsaw is a steal.

I now have a 2200W Ozito which I paid $160 for, which I considered cheap.

Would never go back to 2 stroke petrol if I can avoid it, I'm going up to my orchard next week and just going to haul a generator up, as it sticks all the motor noise 10M away from me, has heaps more torque, doesn't keep stopping and needing to be restarted, doesn't care if I don't use it for 6 months, and isn't farting out horrible smoke in my face.
