Same, other half has gold but probably won't retain when it expires so would be awesome if topping up can extend validity. Hopefully Starbucks reply, they're quite slow at picking up their private messages.

Gold gives you a free drink upfront with the upgrade, and you get 1x BOGOF on a food or drink item once a month. I don't bother with the other extra benefits.
I know I have to get takeaway coffee at least 1x a month with the missus so it's been good value.
If you use it just once a month it's a good way to get BOGO
Just create multiple email account with Starbuck and update birthday field for each account by month. Get free large drink.
Not sustainable especially during alert levels when they check your vaccine Pass it shows date of birth. Aslo you can only do so if you don't get noticed
On 22nd Jan (Orange level -AKL), when I placed order using their mobile app they didn't check my vaccine pass nor proof for DOB
Just order online
Now you have ruined it for first timers if this gets out

Got confirmation from Starbucks NZ that this is only for Green members to upgrade to Gold. It won't extend an existing Gold membership.

So if I've never had the app and I download it and top up the card with $50 I'm automatically a gold member?

Through the app. Existing user though have not been a gold member previously.

The $50 is just credit, so if you are happy to commit $50 worth of spend at starbucks then all the benefits are free..

No, you just download app to sign up, and top up $50 to become gold. You only need the app to order and pay
