Is this a good deal, is it a good watch?
Not sure but a similar deal on OzBargain (for AU$99) at the start of April got 358 upvotes
Was looking at this earlier and noticed that (I think it's the same watch…) NL has a black version available in Moorhouse & Queenstown for $159 and Heathcotes the orchid version for $158
how often do you like charging your watch?
Bloody good price for a Garmin GPS watch with 5-6 days of battery life. Next step up is the Venu 2 which is around $700.
Cheap for a Garmin but there are reasons for that. The screen is LCD rather than AMOLED and while the gold "ring" is metal the rest of the case is plastic. I think this is a fairer price for it than the RRP which was just stupid.
I think even RRP is pretty fair considering it's a proper Garmin GPS watch with a lot of their sports metrics, and 5-6 day battery life. Sure a Fenix or Apple Watch are going to have nicer hardware but at 4-5 times the price.
It has an LCD screen. Even at $150 other fitness trackers have AMOLED. It will look much worse than competing products.
Really? Never seen a $150 GPS fitness tracker with a big 1.3" AMOLED screen, pretty sure they don't exist. But feel free to prove me wrong.
Most people don't care about LCD vs AMOLED especially at that price range. I used to own a Venu and the screen looked great.

The previous model Venu was an AMOLED screen.
I'm not trying to start an argument or anything just pointing it out.
Yeah I agree; those buying a Garmin are likely seeking other benefits that come from a specialist sports watch rather than a fashion device and therefore the LCD v AMOLED is a lesser consideration. Seems like a pretty sharp price imo
It's going for$159 at Noel Leeming - https://www.noelleeming.co.nz/p/garmin-venu-sq-smartwatch-sh…
