  • $99 at JB Hi-Fi

  • Shipping (to Auckland at least) is $5.99 so minimum price is actually $15.99 (for me).

Still - a good price nevertheless!

    • Try "LXFREESHIP"

  • What is the battery, and how do you charge it?

    • +1

      JB Hi-Fi

The X-Beam pack includes a long lasting 2200 mAh lithium-polymer rechargeable battery and a micro USB cable for charging on the fly.

  • Could this be used as a Bike light? Or does it have to be hooked up to a camera?

    • it has that gopro mount

    • same here and do i need to buy a special mount to mount it on the bike?

    • I found a Facebook post from the manufacturer saying it can be used standalone.

I tried adding a negative tip but it didn't work. Ah well, worth a shot.

I have several of these from the last time Kaiser Baas had a "clearance sale" many years ago. Just be aware most of the build quality seems very good, all except the most crucial part, the battery compartment closure clip.

It takes on a lot of stress during the opening and closing actions and they usually break around the 5th to 10th time you do it.

So with the closure clip broken, the only hope of you keeping the battery connected to the light is with some strong tape and it will no longer be waterproof in any way.

So just be prepared to relegate it to some inferior tasks when the clip breaks and don't count on it for it's originally described purpose.

For $10 it might not be a bad deal, however it looks like they just doubled the price to $20.

I was super excited about it a back then. But these days they never get used because of how hard it is to keep the tape from failing and the battery to slide out and for you to be left in the dark.

The "clearance sale" was a funny one as well as the listing is back on the Kaiser Baas website at full price of $79. So maybe they decided to keep the line despite the warranty issues.

You need to use the promo code.
That will drop it down to $10.

  • Would these make good lights for a fixed lighting setup like for video calls?

Oof, it's $10 off the entire cart, not per unit. Not as good a deal as it seemed.

    Thanks OP

    • Arrived the next day, the battery clip isnt going to last long, I hope the company has backups in stock. Otherwise feels very well built for 16$ delivered.

  • Already purchased one, can someone try if the code "LXFREESHIP" works in conjunction?

    • I didn't do a purchase but looks like you can only enter one promo code on the checkout screen.
Better to use OP's code and discount by $10 which is more than the shipping cost.

      • tried and only 1 coupon works.

  • Hi Team, thanks for your orders! Please note we have 10pcs left of this deal! Thanks LX2001

  • Tremendously fast dispatch .. was delivered this morning!!

      Hi HuxterNZ,

Thanks so much for your kind words!

We couldn't ask if you could place a Google review for us if possible?

      Thanks,

  • Arrived this morning so A++ for shipping. Was hoping I could use it as a bike light, seem like it should be fine just a tad heavy. Unfortunately the security seal of the package had been opened. It seems that the battery also won't hold charge very well. As the manufacturing date is 2017 I'm hoping that the battery isn't shot from being on the shelf too long and will work after a few cycles. Not sure why the security seal was open but hopefully nothing to do with the battery.

    • I received mine and it too had been already opened, and the battery was marked and so looked like it had been already used. Then I went to plug the charging cable into the battery and the micro USB port on the battery snapped off and fell into the unit. They are going to send me a replacement, but I feel these are being cleared out for a reason and probably aren't even worth $10

      • OP has been online a few times now since taeken's comment. Hopefully they provide a response on here.

Hi Gatkins, thanks for your message. These have been sold to us as brand new by Kaiser Baas NZ. Can you please email us (or reply to tracking link email) re any faulty units. Thanks LX2001

    • Seems to be holding charge after a few cycles so that's good, the micro USB connection on the battery is a bit flimsy so not surprised that it can break. And the latch is a bit of a pain, you have to be forceful and careful at the same time, already had to reassemble it once. Pretty happy for the price, puts out a good pattern for night cycling.

      • that's good to hear; I threw my hat into the ring and grabbed one today also for the purpose of putting it on a bike - figured for the price, if it lasts a season its a win :D

      • Yip, seems to me the USB port has a design flaw in that it has no internal support. Will see with the replacement one I guess.

  • Arrived this morning, solid package. A bit of hassle to open the battery compartment but sort of expected it to be to cater IP68. Not the brightest (no pun) for the size but pretty solid attachment to accompany my GoPro. 5/5 really.

  • Anyone else have problems opening the darn battery compartment? I'm starting to think mine is stuck

    • Have you sorted it? You need to lift up the end closest to the silver power button. Once you've opened it once, it loosens up a little.

      • I don't have mine yet, but 'it loosens up a little' and 'waterproof', don't seem to gel in my mind….

      • Not yet. Haha, do you need to push opposite to the lock button and then lift or just lift?

    • It works just like the GoPro casing. You pull the end near the power button. Took me a while too because it latched firmly, when i finally opened it, the metal ring came undone, but fixed it back in easily with pair of tweezers. The 2nd time was much much easier to open.\

Also played around with it inside my bathtub, so that's a good 20cm depth i reckon.

      • Thanks team finally got it open

      • I got it open without too much difficulty, but then promptly broke the bits that grab the metal ring. Oh well, I only wanted this as a torch to keep around the house and it can still do that fine.

    Thanks,

  • Hi Team, re battery installation. Please do check instructions re the correct way to install battery which will prevent any breakages. Thanks LX2001

    • I would have to say that the instructions are actually quite misleading - they tell you to lever it open in the wrong place, which could lead people to break it through no fault of their own.

stevarja's comment above that 'You pull the end near the power button.' is actually correct.

      Alan.
