Hershey's Kisses Creamy Milk Chocolates 118g $0.20 @ Pak'n SAVE, Manukau ($0.18 via 10% Price Promise at The Warehouse)

61

Hershey's Kisses were $0.20 each at Pak n Save Manukau (only Creamy Milk).

Just tried last week to do a price match with The Warehouse, and they granted it (the picture on The Warehouse web was its old packaging, I've just collected my order and the product was the same as pictured on Pak n Save website). Some agents might be more difficult than others to grant it, but you never now until you tried your luck!

  • Great find. Am currently unable to get through to live chat with TWH

  • Ben wouldn’t price match as he said they went the same item

    • Yeah, fortunately I got EJ last week and I explained it to him that their own picture at the web was wrong (as the items in store are all on new packaging already). Might just need to try your luck on different agents…

  • +1

    Gotta save that 2c lol

    • +1

It's not so much the 2c - more the matter of principle.
As a Cheapie this is a must!

    • +1

That's $2 when you buy 100 of them tho

  • -1

I think they've taken live chat down, I can't connect. Was 2nd in line and now "no agents available"

    • +3

'sorry, live agents are busy at the moment doing their own pricematching'

      • Lmao. Could be.

Ended up connecting to Ben and then he ended the convo without saying anything.

        • +2

If I ever get Ben now I just end the convo - in my experience he is the most difficult to get a match out of.

  • Ive had to go on live chat on website as app kept telling me no agents available. Had mailey who ended chat before i could confirm email, now speaking with bex.

Bex is a no go, says they cant price promise when items are listed regionally

    • +2

Same thing here. The thing is though that it doesn't mention in the price promise that regional sales are excluded, and they're saying that it's "on clearance". It does not say on the website that it's a clearance sale though, and therefore they should not be able to determine it to be.

      • That’s weird they have never had an issue with it before. They always ask which store we want to price match with. And you’re right, how can they determine it’s a clearance item?

        • +1

So. They're now saying that their manager has called Manukau and there's no stock in store which I find difficult to believe.

They've also stated that the boxes look different. I've contacted The Warehouse before as a book I wanted had one image (of three) displayed as the Korean version. Their staff assured me that the item would be in English. So how is it possible then that the images are only correct when it suits them?

          • @Latex Fist: Yes im having the same conversation now with an agent online. Said manager spoke with store and was told sold out.
Ive called their bluff and said i have called to and been told there is loads of stock. Was than told pics arent the same and again ive told them items are titled the same. This is now being escalated - unsure what that means but will see how it goes

Have now been told another manager has called PNS again and been told its a price error

            • +4

              @Hartaru: From their helpdesk:

"We do not price promise on regional prices, however I appreciate that is not stated."

That's a breach of the Fair Trading Act. No where in the price promise does it mention this.

Now they're saying that they do not price match on competitors pricing errors. I've asked for them to quote me where in the price promise it states that they can refuse to do so - hint, it doesn't say it anywhere.

              • @Latex Fist: Making up policies on the fly even still:

TWS: I have been advised that we don't price promise on regional prices, I have followed up on the fact it doesn't seem to state this specifically. I have asked our management team to investigate this further. However, as this is actually a pricing error on Pak N Save's end and I have confirmed this. I will not be able to price match.

Me: Actually, would you mind quoting the part in the Price Promise that states that you aren't able to price match a mistake?
Or otherwise, as you state a "pricing error"?

TWS: Under the fair trading act, if a price is substantially lower in error the price does not need to be honoured by the business. As you are asking me to price match a price I have confirmed is an error, in the same stead, we do have to honour the price promise as is a confirmed error on their end.

Me: But we're not talking about their business. We're talking about The Warehouse's policies. The TWS policy states that it would be able to Price Match under certain conditions. Not one of those conditions mentions a pricing error by their competitor. Not only that, PakNSave would be able to use their discretion when either selling for that listed price or not on a per-person basis. That doesn't then mean that you, being an external entity, can comment on their practices. How do you know that they would not complete the offer on site?
Also, the pricing error doesn't have to be 'substantial' as there's no defined meaning on substantial in law.

TWS: I have been advised I cannot price promise on this item. I apologise, but at this time I will not be honouring this.

  • Danielle wouldn’t match it as the image is different. From what I can tell all online retailers except the warehouse are using the same image as pack n save

  • +2

I think at this stage, The Warehouse realised the power of Cheapies and just grasping on every single reason they could think of to turn down the price promise…… I wonder if doing it in-store (especially if you're in Auckland region) would be easier

    • I find in store; the staff aren't so punctilious. Especially since the packaging will be the same the problem of the images won't be an issue. Most stores in Auckland are oos so they may price match, then order it for click and collect.

  • The picture is the same on the warehouse stationary website and on their live chat they still won’t match the price because the price is only applicable to manukau store however that’s never been an issue in the past and most pack n saves are individually owned so prices won’t be the same across stores anyway

    Here for the chat.

The Warehouse, The Warehouse, where nobody gets a pricematching bargain

      • +1

They apparently need a PP rewrite.

        • +9

I've done a rewrite - something like this?

What is The Warehouse Price Promise? - unofficial version

We will beat any competitor's price by 10% - but only when we want to.
If you can provide proof of a competitor’s current advertised price e.g. a mailer, press ad or screenshot from an eligible competitor retailer, and your original receipt if seeking a refund.
We will beat any competitor's price by 10% - sometimes (but not likely)
Note: Even if our picture on the website is wrong it doesn't matter. Our rules, so tough luck.

Proof of competitor's current advertised price is required.
Product must be in stock at both our store and the competitor’s store at the time of the price match.
Item needs to be same (exact), in its original packaging, must be a standard stocked item & from a NZ based retailer. Store Manager has discretion to apply (in some circumstances) the price promise to similar items e.g. Clothing.
Products lowered in price cannot be combined with any other TWL or competitor’s promotion or credit offer, or with any trade terms, direct purchasing from the supplier, limited quantity offers or internet only retailers.
Customer needs to provide proof of price e.g. competitor mailer, quote press ad or screenshot from an eligible competitor retailer, and an original receipt if seeking a refund.

Claim must be lodged within 7 days of purchase.
For online price matching, the product must have the same barcode, priced on the same day, same freight and shipping lead times and be from a NZ based retailer with a co.nz website only and delivered from within NZ only.
If you get Ben on the chat then you're out of luck - sorry!

@bigcheese: That's a fairly good representation of the price promise. It still maybe a little vague in that you should through in a few more maybes, sometimes and occasionally. Also a little more of the "when we feel like it's"

            • @wowbigdeal: true.
Maybe we just withdraw the price promise - it's all getting too complicated!

            • @wowbigdeal: I definitely did not mean to neg this deal. I must have accidentally hit neg and now I can't remove it.

  • +1

I talked to Bex apparently she called Pak N Save Manukau and was told it was a pricing error, so she didn't honor the price promise.
I ended up called Pak N Save Manukau to confirm and apparently it is a pricing error haha.

    • -1

EJ said the same thing and said they wouldn't honour pricing errors. Though the website doesn't say anything

  • Sorry guys - have marked them as Expired for now, feel free to still try your luck if you can purchase through Pak n Save/The Warehouse in store!

    • Can confirm it's still 20 cents at PNS. They're past BB so doubt they'll be changing the price on them.

  • Mailey told me, the warehouse team has confirmed with the Paknsave manager that there is an error with their price and it will be updated in 24-48 hours to $4.29.

    • The range is past b/b date so doubt they'll be changing the price. Got 3 today @ 20cents ea. Still quite abit of stock available.
