A warning about Now. I was with them for a year and called to cancel when I changed providers. The person I spoke to forgot to cancel our account and it took me a couple months to notice (new baby). When I called up to ask for a refund they said it was my fault and they couldn't refund me. They had noticed there was no traffic but thought we were on holiday (it was during lockdown). It took four calls of asking for a manager and being told they weren't there that day, which took a week for a manager to go back through the call logs before they believed me and refunded me. It was a total pain and no promo would make me use their service again.

    • Thanks for the warning, I've never used them but thought id leave the coupon here anyways.

At 89 pm (minus 10 with discount) for unlimited fiber it's not that competitive anyways.

  • I always use https://www.broadbandcompare.co.nz/ to compare the broadband prices before I switch. For ex. Slingshot 950/500 Mbps is $67.95/month for first 12 months on a 12 months contract which seems to be the cheapest option at the moment. I have also used Slingshot for over a year in the past, never had any issues with them.

If you're looking at signing up for a 12 month contract, using the coupon NOW6 is a better deal overall. Gives you 50% off for your first 6 months which on their base fibre unlimited plan equates to $44.50 * 6 = $267 in savings.

  • I was with Now in 2020 and didn't have any issues. Changed to Skinny because they had 3 or 4 months free for the first year. Currently in my second year with Skinny after their retentions team put me on another 4 months free deal if I renewed for another year. Overall, Skinny is by far better with customer service and their pricing. Even better if you have a $26 or higher mobile phone plan which reduces the broadband cost even further - link to Skinny pricing here

    • How did you get their retention team? I’ve tried the online chat, but they said it’s just standard 1 month free.

Keep trying. I knew my 12 months was coming up in May so I was shopping around in April to allow plenty of notice as per their T&C, and to ensure there was no downtime when changing providers. I messaged online and told them I knew my term was coming up for renewal. They only offered me the standard 2 months free, not 4 which was the promo then, so I said - " That's a shame. I'll have to cancel then and switch providers. I'll be in touch to provide ample notice of the cancellation at the end of the term. " . The person checked with someone in retention and came back to say " As per checks your contract will ends 20/05 as one off I am happy to offer you 4 months free once this current contract ended. ". Nothing else special was mentioned in the transcript so definitely give it a go.
