  • Is it possible for me to reuse my existing kogan SIM card because I already used this plan last year?

  • Seems the same deal on dicksmith webside does not specify expiry date.

  • Is there a way to check current data usage for the current period? I've just switched to My Republic and their app doesn't report this which is really dumb..

    • Look in your phone settings, should be under Mobile Data or something

  • can I use the $5 starter pack first then move to this annual pack? looks like a better deal for new customers

    • +1

      Yes.
As long as you buy this voucher prior to the 30/11/22 and then activate it by the 31/12/22

    • How is it better I don't get it

      • +2

Because you're only paying $5 for the first month.

15gb first month for $5 vs. 1.5gb first month for $6.66 (or 15gb for $13.75)

Quick/rough maths but you get the point.

  • If it reset every 30 days you will be 5 days short. So is it like skinny where you topup 13 times a year?

    • It's not done on a monthly thing, you're paying for 365 days. So although each period is 30 days, you get 13 periods (12x 30 days, and 1 time 5 day). So the last 5 days you will still have 15gb on the large plan to use.

After the 365 days, a new 365 plan will renew if you've left the automatic billing on.

  • bigcheese covered this earlier.

There's twelve 30 day periods and one 5 day period. Kogan are supplying a total of 19.5GB, 52GB and 195GB for Small, Medium and Large plans respectively over the 365 day period.

Skinny is 28 day period so there's approximately thirteen 28 day periods in 365 day period.

  • Anyone got the voucher yet? It says dispatch 30th Nov? But it is just a digital code?

    • You should receive your voucher code in a matter of minutes from purchase via email.
It’s the physical SIM that takes a few days to arrive.

I would suggest you get in touch with them if you don’t have the code by the following day.

    • did you pay via paypal by chance?, that i what i did, and i havent received my code either since buying yesterday

      • Yes I used paypal. I will try to contact support tomorrow.

      • Just received it. Check your emails.

Hopefully they can offer the same here as they offer on the AU plans one day

esims and being able to just have all your data at once etc

  • +2

Thank you OP - Don't forget that you can signup for a new Kogan account and get $5 off too (first order above $100).
    Got 15GB plan for $160

    • Good spotting - I'll add that to the deal

  • Sigh… wish we could have the AU's price. Accidently saw it when my Kogan switched to AU. Bought a medium pack anyway, thanks OP!

    KOGAN ADVANTAGES
    ●Cheap
    ●Uses Vodafone network
    ●Voicemail the same as Vodafone

    KOGAN DISADVANTAGES
●Unless you're good, you'll need help with your phone settings to set up voice-mail and internet
●No telephone number for help. Only live chat and email N.B. Kogan Mobile Australia has a 1300 number. WTF?
●Help is India based. Getting a straight answer to a simple question can be surprisingly difficult. It can take so long on-line I have felt my will-to-live ebbing away.
●Can not reply to, or SMS short numbers such as your dentist or radio station. As previously noted
●Data does not rollover. Use it or lose it
●Can only call NZ and Australian numbers
●Can only SMS NZ and Australian numbers
●Can only MMS NZ numbers (I think)

The above is largely solved by WhatsApp and other similar apps. International calling add-ons are available. I keep a Vodafone Pay & Go SIM going for only $20 annually. They have some great Daily Deals for international calling and data.

I've been with Kogan since they launched and I'm reasonably happy. More than happy with the savings.

The 50% off deal is for new and existing customers according to the fine print. I renewed but got billed full price. Live chat promised to fix it days ago. I'm still waiting to see a credit on my credit card. Grrr!!

    • Not many people mention the free NZ MMS.

Are others still charging 50c per PXT?

  • Little confused with a few old forum threads I’m reading, the Ts and Cs (valid for new and existing customers… but not valid for subsequent recharges).

Anyway I bought 2 new voucher codes without much reading first. Both new codes are expiring 31/12/2022

I am wanting to use them to renew an existing 365 day that expires on 15/12/2022. Will this work applying the code after this date?

I am also wanting to use them to renew an existing 365 day that expires on 15/01/2022. Will this work applying the code before this date?

    • +1

Yes it will work as long as the codes are applied before the 31/12/22.

I would apply the code by the 15/12/22 for your first plan to continue your connection.
Make sure auto renew is turned off as this will charge full price to your saved card on the 15th Dec if the voucher has not been applied first.

For the second plan you will just lose any unused time until the 15th Jan as it doesn’t stack.
It’s only a couple of weeks if you do it on the 31/12/22 though.

      • Thanks heaps for the confirmation bigcheese!

  • Is tethering/ hotspotting allowed on Kogan mobile data such as accessing the internet from a wifi only device via the phone. I understand some data plans from other providers may not allow this? Apologies if already discussed elsewhere. Thanks.

  • Has anybody received their Sim cards yet? I'm just thinking if shipping takes 2-3 weeks or so it's gonna be cutting it fine with the deadline of 31/12/2022?

    • Yep arrived on Friday - Normal post

    • Yes. Today. Post.

  • +3

    Last day

    • Very confused to wait for the Xmas/Boxing day deal as my current plan is valid till January but it's a gamble they might not do that sale.
Being a true cheapie don't want to lose those extra months.

      • +1

As long as you buy it today you still have until 31st Dec to redeem the voucher.
That means worst case it's only a few weeks (or day's) you lose depending on when in January your current plan ends.

    • Cheers for the reminder, better pick one up for the wife
