    • Always good for new customers, but old hags like us have to use the codes here 😂

@mickey9876 not sure but I bet if you focus on dinner/lunch meals only and don't buy meat and Veges from the supermarket, it may be a good idea to check. Long term it may cost a lot, especially if you pay full price. But now considering prices of food, it may a good way to avoid food waste.

      • I usually just create a new account. I've even been able to refer a free box to myself (an old account to a new account). New email, new phone, new card (Wise), and a tiny tweak of the address.

Then I go through all of the 40-50% off codes posted on Cheapies.

        • I have about six accounts and I'm struggling to manage those so I'm not making new accounts anymore 😂

I'm guessing you're the one who updated/tidied this up. Thank you again ☺

          • @toomanywises: I guess that’s the problem having toomanywises?

            • @bigcheese: 🎶Ba-dum-tssss🎵🥁 😂 but yeah!

I had a couple of occasions where I thought I skipped a week in every account until a box turned up at my place, so now I have to tick a box everytime 😂

This appears to be the same discount as the HELLOREBEL140 someone listed in the previous HF deal. In case anyone missed it (I was late to the party), % discounts are better if you're buying more, especially if you buy a lot more. See my comment here on how to make the HelloFresh % discounts go further: https://www.cheapies.nz/comment/167171/redir

  • Can HelloFresh replace buying groceries from supermarket on specials? Wondering with all these discounts, could it work out cheaper than just doing regular groceries?

    • +1

No, it's unlikely. All meal services make you pay premiums on top of raw ingredients for the convenience factor, so you're paying to save time and hassle. If you source your own ingredients (and use their recipes which are free on the website) you'll most likely find that even after these discounts you're better off by something like 30%, and what's more, you'll have more ingredients left over for future meals. Hello Fresh ingredients are often packaged in smaller sizes to match the recipe and to reduce food waste. If you're even slightly handy in the kitchen you should have no trouble using leftover ingredients elsewhere.

As a very rough guide, RRP meals work out around $10. With the best discounts you're looking at around $6 per head. Total raw ingredient cost varies but I'd estimate would typically be in the range of $3-5.
