$300 Energy Credit When Signing up As A New User @ Contact Mobile (Applies to Existing Contact Energy Customers)

130

This was a targeted deal that was posted on Cheapies before. However, this deal seems to be available to all exisiting contact energy users now.

Apply to existing contact energy customers only: Simply join Contact mobile using the same name and email address that you use for your energy account. Have your energy account number handy as you'll need to enter that too (you can find this on your last bill). We'll add your $300 credit to your energy account within 7 days.

*Promotion is for a limited time and only available to new Contact mobile customers and only for existing Contact energy customers. Contact reserves the right to cancel, modify or suspend this promotion at any time and shall not be liable for any loss or damage incurred as a result. The credit is not transferable, refundable or redeemable for cash or cash equivalents. The three months free offer excludes add-ons, international charges, roaming, MMS and premium numbers.

  • So you can join mobile for 3 months, get it free, then leave, and still get $300 of credit?

    • Unless they've changed the Ts and Cs, yes. The credit comes through after activating the sim.

      • How long after activating did it come through & where did you see it? Signed up using same email, activated but can't see credit.

        • Just wait for couple of days after receiving the sim.

You don't need to activate the sim for the credit. I got the credit after 3-4 days of signing up. Can confirm another friend also got the credit.

        • Same here, I never activated and was credited shortly after buying the plan

        • Have you worked out how to cancel yet? I didn't see an option anywhere on their website. Might have to contact support..

          • @popngood: You have to contact support. They also have whatsapp number you can contact via. I used it last time I wanted to cancel the service.

          • @popngood: Is cancellation required? In my understanding, since there is no fixed-term contract, just switching out to another provider means the service stopped.

@cyphei: I suppose you could. In my case, I am just using the Contact sim as a second sim for data, as I never brought my phone number over, so I'll need to cancel.

  • Having a bit of trouble getting them to honour this, as I did not recieve the email communication from them.. is anyone able to forward me a copy of the email?

    • I still didn't get the Email after so many months…..

      • +2

I didn't get one either (or at least I can't find it - 'contact' is an annoying thing to search for in gmail). I signed up, have not got credit yet but have activated and have received an invoice for $0, so it looks like I signed up to the right thing. I took a screenshot of the banner that shows up with this deal when I log on to Contact energy - maybe you have one too? I am hoping the screenshot will suffice as evidence if the $e300 doesn't show up within a week or so.

        • Did you get your credit?

          • +1

@Adrenaline: Yes, just today - did have to contact customer support and ask though - just told them the date i had signed up, that i had activated my Sim, and it had been over 7 days and i had not received the credit. They did not ask whether i had gotten an email, nor did i need to use the screenshot. Credit was in my account 2 days later.

  • Does anyone know if, with Contact Mobile, you can divert unanswered calls to another number (rather than going to the voicemail for the mobile number), and if so, do they charge for the diversion?

  • Changed plan by mistake to medium. Does that mean after first month won’t be free anymore?
Better cancel it after getting the credit if that’s the case.

  • I asked (everyone loves a trier) and you can only get one credit per household. Otherwise the whole family would be with them now and we'd be set until summer.

You can do the esim option too and then you don't even need to wait for a physical SIM.

Im not sure if i got an email about it, but when i signed into my power account the offer was there, quite big, if its there you cant miss it.

I signed up, got the credit. use the plan for about a week. Asked for it to be canceled today, it will end on the billing date ( 8th June for me) I got the credit in my power account. Before I signed up I asked twice, on two different platform's about claw backs and terms, I got told there is no risk and I wont loose the credit, win!

I will update if I loose the credit, but there is nothing in the t&cs currently and I've got it on record that wont be the case. Crazy offer. $300 account credit + good weekend plans has saved me a lot of coins!

Hey everyone. Heads up for existing contact mobile & contact energy users (hence ineligable as per T&C).

    Sign up like this:
Log into your existing contact mobile account and remove your contact energy account number. (if you already tried unsuccessfully to get the credit this way)
Log into contact energy account - change your email to secondary email address (I trust every cheapie has at least one!)
Sign up to contact mobile using the same secondary email address, use your real name and enter your contact energy account number)

This worked for me, signed up late last this week and got the sim card in the mail yesterday, haven't activated it and credit is showing already. Yay!

    • If you don't activate it, do you still get charged for the mobile plan immediately, or does that only kick in from the date of activation?

      • To be honest I'm not sure. You choose the plan when you order the Sim card, but because it is 3 months for free currently, when you go to activate it, it does not charge you either. It will however charge you in 3 months time on the date that you activated the sim (if you do not cancel)

        • Good point! Silly question on my part - sorry!

      Churr, this worked for me.

    • I just saw your message after I signed up to contact mobile plan. They won't honour $300 as I am already got energy plan with them. Is there way around this?

  • Damn, I was too slow. Looks like they ended this offer early. The page that comes up when clicking the link now says the deal is no longer available :(

  • I got my $300 credit but their support is bloody terrible. Tried WhatsApp and Messenger to cancel my mobile plan and they haven't responded for weeks, despite my multiple follow-ups.

Found their number buried in the FAQ somewhere:
    0800 201 000

  • I received the email and have signed up, activated my sim and messaged to ask about how to claim my $300 credit for power. They have replied to say the offer has ended but my email clearly says I had until the end of June. Ive messaged back to explain this. Hopefully they honour it.

    • Let us know how it goes 🤞

Did you have any luck? I'm in the same boat.

      • It seems to be on again

        • What makes you say that?

  • Signed up on 3rd June and didn't receive any credit. I messaged them on WhatsApp and they said the offer closed end of May, but gave me $100 credit seeing as I just missed out. A week later I received the $300 credit anyway! I didn't even have to activate the sim.

    • I've signed up last Saturday, and received it now. The link is still active.
