    V8 plus $489 @ Briscoes (not on Dyson website) - 2 tools
    V8 Origin Extra $549 @ NL/HN ($749 on Dyson Website) - 3 tools
    V8 Extra $549 @ Dyson (was $899) - 4 tools

other than the number of tools included does anyone know of any other difference?

To my knowledge, that's it. Might have different colour plastic but the grunt (motor, battery) is the same across the range.

This is the last model to have the easy waste dump option, that you can empty without having to take the attachment off.

  • I have a V8, after 3 years, the battery goes bad. When it uses 50% battery it completely stops. You put it on charge for 1 second then it kind of reactivates the battery, then you can use the other 50%.

It seems to be that it requires a battery calibration. Not sure how to do it. The usage behaviour is always put it on charge.

Doesn't help you now, but the trick is to request a new battery from dyson after around 23 months (battery warranty is 2 years)
Even if your battery is going OK, you can usually say it has declined in performance and they will replace it under warranty.

3 years from a battery is pretty good going, I would say your best solution is to reuse that until it's unusable then buy a new one.

      • So so so much this.

I've had 2 replacement batteries from them over the life of the vacuum so far. I got the second after the replacement failed within an unacceptably short timeframe.

        • Im at 20 months, is there anything specific i need to mention? Or just contact support with order number and say issue with run-time?

          • @Foodie: From memory, I just said that the battery blink red 21times(? unsure) when plugged into charger and can't charge the unit anymore

You can buy power tool battery to Dyson adaptors from AliExpress and the likes.

Will convert a DeWalt, Milwaukee, Makita etc battery to run in your Dyson.

      Fitment is plug and play.

Pretty nice being able to vacuum my house on 'max' the whole time and have quick swap when the battery dies.

TIP: For those partaking in this deal set a timer or calendar note for 23 months. At that time assess the battery condition. If you think it has declined significantly you can request a new one from Dyson under their 2 year battery replacement warranty. For me they didn't request the old one back or anything, just sent out a new one.

Depending how often you use it etc in my experience they tend to go downhill rapidly after the 2 year replacement window and quickly become useless after that. So it makes sense to get a free one while you can. Even if your original is still "OK"

Tip#2 is wash out the top filter sock. The battery may appear to be dead when the airflow is reduced significantly and it can't breath so shuts down.

    • Thanks for the reminder. I bought a replacement battery almost 2 years ago so gave them a call to try and get a replacement. Unfortunately, they only have a 1 year warranty on parts so they wouldn't replace it under warranty.

      However they did offer a discount on a new v10 @ $694 (RRP $1099).

I will probably just get a DeWalt battery adapter kit from AliExpress and use my existing batteries for my power tools.

  • Looks like the deal is over now
