If you value good quality - don't. I've had a few in my lifetime, one that is still buried somewhere with the rest of semi-working electronics junk. Sound is not great at all, build quality is terrible, especially on the hinges which break all the time even from very careful use.

I've always preferred a wireless headset, so if you can afford - buy something like Bose QuietComfort or Sony XM4 / XM5, the older models usually go at a very good discount.
If you want wired - choices are much larger and cheaper, but I can't help with that.

Just in general, Logitech wasn't great before, but now it has become overpriced electronic waste.

Their ("mechanical") keyboards rattle, keycaps become shiny after few months of mild use. You can't easily get a replacement. Switches are proprietary and soldered to the board.

ALL their mice have the same flaw with crappy switches that start to develop "double-click" issue. With a bit of a soldering-fu you can replace them with better quality and longer lasting ones, but it's a hassle EVERY single mouse would go through.

Their headsets are nowhere near the quality of a similarly priced non-gaming ones, especially wireless. Their PLASTIC hinges break very easily.

Their support was indeed the best at some point, literally no question asked worldwide replacements. Now you have to push quite hard to prove an issue, and that it's not caused by "regular wear and tear".

Look somewhere else. There's always better substitutes from other brands.

    • looking to get my first mechanical keyboard. Can you recommend one that isnt too noisy, doesnt need to be silent, but just not too loud. Also not a gamer, more for productivity work, needing numberpad to the right as well. Thanks

      • Full disclosure - I've only had (still have) one proper mechanical keyboard. I don't count Logitech G915, because it ended up being utter garbage. So I'm not good enough to give any solid advice.

        HOWEVER :D

If you want simple entry to a good-value-for-money without hassle of building your own (yes it's a thing!) - get Keychron keyboard. They are sold at PbTech and there's too many options to chose from so I get the frustration trying to chose your first.

Unfortunately, because keyboards are very subjective and personal, and there's usually very little options to even try the tactile feel of a particular one, you are left with two options: have a friend who already has a (good) mechanical keyboard, ideally with several types of switches to try, OR do a leap of faith and trust a total stranger from the web :)

There's 3 main types of switches to chose from: linear, tactile and clicky. They all come in different names, but traditionally, based on Cherry coloring scheme, they named Red (for linear), Brown (for tactile) and Blue (for clicky).

Linear are what they are - linear. The button actuation is equally smooth at the start and the end of the stem travel. They are the most silent ones (however, the sound the button makes does not come exclusively from the switch!)

Tactile will have a "bump" somewhere in the middle when you depress the button. Provides a tactile feedback on button actuation (the same moment the button press is registered electronically). Middle ground between the linear and clicky. Noisier than linear but much quieter than clicky.

Clicky - same as tactile but with audible "click" on actuation. Only buy if you want to annoy EVERYONE around you :D But it's a personal preference obviously.

There's hundreds of variations of these, from different manufacturers that vary by actuation force, travel distance before actuation, springiness, sound and feel. It's very hard to navigate unless you can physically try them yourself. No amount of videos would replace personal experience.

Bro, my one and only favorite mechanical keyboard is this one:
        https://nuphy.com/products/air75

        It's really really good.

They also have options with numpad as well, like this one:
        https://nuphy.com/collections/keyboards/products/air96-v2

I like low profile keys, that's why these ones fit me very well.
But if it's not your cup'o tea, they have high key profiles as well.

For those who wonder what I'm using - NuPhy Halo75 :) Great keyboards.

        • how is the wireless connectivity? no dropouts and lag ok?

Can you only buy these direct from their site?

          • @lexstar: Never had any problems to be honest. Yeah, you can only buy on their site (as far as I know).

      • I’ve got this Akko one:

        https://www.computerlounge.co.nz/shop/peripherals/keyboards/…

Can vouch the build quality is very decent. It’s a nice entry level one.

        • man $200 is entry level ay?

      • Not mechanical, but I can vouch for mx keys for productivity. Best keyboard I have own over last 20+ years. Have 2 of them, one at work & other at home.

Also, have MX 2 (using for 5+ yrs) & MX 3s(using for 1+ yr) mouse as well. Can't fault it, but again it's a personal choice. So it depends on who likes what.

    • I have been using my G Pro X Superlight for a few years now, and it's never had any issues.

  • Tried this here is what I got;
