@offroad: Give yourself at least a few weeks of trial and failure. You will drink some pretty terrible home coffees before you perfect the process. Enjoy the entire experience, it's fun.

@offroad: Nice work! I found as long as you turn the steam wand on, so it’s at full steam before putting it in the milk. Put the wand in on a slight angle around 1 cm into the milk. Then as the milk rises you should bring it out, slightly touching the surface. Wait until the milk jug is quite hot to touch and the milk has expanded in volume (almost just 1.5cm under the edge), then it's ready.
I do struggle with making the coffee. Same setting and everything, Saturday good coffee with dry puck. Sunday watery coffee with wet puck. Can't figure out why? So much learn for a perfect coffee every time.

My suggestion is barista express, and spend the differences in some other accessories. (a good tamper, WDT, botomless portafilter, etc)

I don’t know if anyone else managed to jump on a pricing error that was live for about 10 mins this morning. My order has just been confirmed and paid for over phone.
The black Batista Express was listed for $230 this morning, however when it went to cart the sub total was showing as $805 (30% off price). Took a screenshot and sent through Facebook and they honered the price, and is now on its way!
They mentioned a couple of other people had jumped on it too!

Can you elaborate on this? You bought the syrups from Briscoes BOGO and then returned to The Warehouse..? Where's the BOGO deal?
Yeah sorry for the poor explanation. I bought a whole bunch of Sodastream syrups from the Warehouse BOGO deal. Since they're slightly cheaper than Briscoes this is better than buying from Briscoes 50%. But Mitre10 price match is even better so I returned the syrups from a few days ago to the Warehouse saying they were unwanted and purchased them from Mitre10 instead. While the syrups were still sealed and unopened, technically Warehouse could argue they are consumables and so are excluded from their 60 day money back guarantee i.e. cannot be returned unless faulty no matter if they aren't in their grocery section.
One disadvantage with buying from Mitre10, at least my local, is their expiration dates are not as good as the Warehouse. (I bought the last day of the sale from the Warehouse so if they did have old stock they possibly got sold off.)
@Nil Einne: BTW, for those wondering if you do the maths it's technically still better to do Mitre10 price match than Briscoes $10 off $50 welcome deal or $20 off $100 come back deal someone posted unless you can get free shipping or free click and click. If you buy 9 syrups it will be $44.01 at Mitre 10 (assuming price of $4.89 not the $4.80 someone got). With $3 click and collect fee it will be $44.75 at Briscoes with the $10 off $50. It will be slightly better if you somehow spend exactly $50 at Briscoes but still not at good as Mitre 10.
Went in store today and the items I wanted to buy are completely out of stock. Checked online and all the other branches are OOS as well. But if you order using their store kiosk PC, there'll be a free shipping code written down somewhere next to it. In my case, the code is "kioskbrialb" and that gave me free shipping. Kinda dumb that I had to go in store and place an order just to get the items shipped to my house, but it is what it is. At least the online price are still the same as the in store price.
By the way, I tried the code on my phone and it didn't work. I think that code only works on the kiosk PC because of some network policy, or something like that.

I am no expert on the beans but have read through what people recommended on the forum. So far I tried coffee supreme boxer (too strong for me), now Havana super deluxe. When I switched the beans, the grinder dial also needed some adjustments. So have a bit of fiddling around. You will get there.
