those late march flights might be good for cherry blossom

  • Uh narita

    • +2

i prefer narita. when i was there earlier this year by the time i stepped off the plane to the time i was on the limo bus it was 25mins (17mins from stepping off the plane to being through customs), so less than 2 hrs to the hotel. it took me the same amount of time last time to get to my hotel through haneda because customs was absolutely slammed.

plus i think narita is a better airport to come back through as you can get better stuff through duty free at reasonable prices (and the lounges are better there if you have access). so horses for courses type of thing.

Seconded, Haneda wasn’t bad but Narita has served me well and the most recent trip was the most insanely fast airport experience of my life arriving from Busan (literally five minutes from leaving the plane to getting my bags and exiting customs.)

    • What's wrong with Narita?

      • +1

It's actually outside of Tokyo, in the prefecture next to it. It takes longer to get to and from (1 hr 30 - 2 hours approx depending on where you are leaving from), but otherwise there aren't any differences. Haneda looks nicer and is closer to central Toyko (30min approx). Both are easily accessible via train to central Tokyo. Cheapest fare to Narita via train is not on the express train/skyline train/ bus limosine. I recommend taking the Keisei main line as it is like $15-20 cheaper :)

  • Always excludes the school holidays 😔

    • Not necessarily, these are just example prices - I can't check every single possible date combo. But airlines don't tend to need to put school holidays on sale :/ Happens sometimes tho!

      • Thanks, what months are good to go Tokyo Disney. September/oct or march/apr or june/july

        • +1

My first Tokyo Disney trip was late June and it was very hot but beautiful. September/October and March/April will have more mild temperatures, keep in mind the parks are super busy all year round so prepare for lots of people (and definitely don’t go on a weekend).

  • Amazing fares. We're flying with them in September. I've tried emailing them for a GST invoice as it's a work trip, but I haven't heard back in a month. How is their service in general?

    • +1

I’m not an accountant, but isn’t international flights and travel zero rated?

      • +2

I am an accountant, and yes you are correct - no GST on overseas travel/flights (even if booked through an NZ travel agent)

        • Thank you for clarifying. My accountant requested an invoice rather than the ticket, so I assumed it would be a GST invoice. Could you please confirm if I can use the ticket itself to claim the expense?

          • +1

@danz: Yep will be for the expense deduction rather than GST

Did you receive an E-Ticket Receipt in your emails when you booked?
I booked flights to USA earlier this year with Fiji Airways and received an E-Ticket Receipt which has the NZD price on it - this should be sufficient

            • @Brit22: Now that you mention, the ticket does say E-Ticket Receipt and has all the details including the price. Thank you.

Thanks for posting these deals @beatthatflight. I'm looking forward to booking for our planned October trip next year.

    • +2

You're welcome. October's a great time, especially for cities south like Hiroshima with the autumn leaves. Some great photography, and not as crazy hot and humid as July can be!

  • +1

These prices don't include a checked in bag, just carry on right?

    • Yeah but the next fare up includes and we got ours under 1k going in September

  • Thank you! I will have an 8-hour wait in Nadi from 4pm to midnight. Would like to go for a walk somewhere. Any recommendations?
    Thanks!

  • 12am departure to NRT does anyone know if it is Breakfast or Dinner service or both?

    • how does meal flight work?

i've had midnight flights that serve full meal 2 hours into the flight….

  • @beatthatflight - When using your site to book the flights, it directs me to another site (Trip, Vayama, Gotogate, Flightnetwork). Which one of these do you suggest we choose? I am trying to book flights with Fiji Airways and your site gives cheaper rates than direct from the airline.

    • Yeah, BTF is a search engine, the others are OTAs (online agencies), so I would suggest the cheapest (they differ depending on route/airline).

There are plusses and minuses - but I've written up a FAQ about them here, which might help: https://www.beatthatflight.com.au/index.php/about/

  • Are these sold out? Clicking the list of Auckland to Japan all shows 1200NZD.

    • it does appear so, yes :/ I'll flag it as expired.
