Dewalt Hedge Trimmer & Drill Kit + 2x 5ah Batteries & Charger $399.99 @ Costco [Membership Required]

20

DeWalt DCMHT563DCD-XE kit for $399.99.

Kit Includes:

  • 1x 18V XR Hedge Trimmer DCMHT563N-XE
  • 1x 18V XR Drill Driver DCD791N-XE
  • 2x 18V XR 18V 5.0Ah Batteries DCB184-XE
  • 1x Charger DCB115-XE

I have all the bits of that kit already.

Hedge trimmer is a fairly basic brushed unit, but gets the job done. I brought mine second hand, but reviews of new ones say the blades are very sharp. Drill is a mid to high end brushless unit. More power than I have ever needed as a homeowner. No issue running a 100mm soil auger in it (with a not included side handle fitted).

5Ah batteries are the most common size. Good balance of run time, tool power, cost and weight. Charger is 4A (I have two of them), will charge the 5AH batteries in slighlty over 1 hour.

Identical kit is $549 at Mitre 10, [edit, this now seems unlikely] so one could try for a price guarantee beat there, and get it for $340.

I thought most shops don't price match Costco because they require a paid membership?

    • And there's no way for them to verify the price/stock at Costco.

    • No mention of such a restriction on their website:

      https://www.mitre10.co.nz/price-guarantee

And their are reports of others having success:

      https://www.reddit.com/r/newzealand/comments/xqzrls/costcomi…

      Haven't tried it myself.

Exclusions from Mitre 10’s Price Guarantee

What are the exclusions from Mitre 10’s Price Guarantee?

On account (credit and cash) purchases from Mitre 10 and our competitors are excluded

On account cash, does this exclude it?

        • I guess a membership is kind of an account?

I don't know is the ultimate answer.

      • Probably only works at Westgate mitre10, which is just across the road from Costco. Might have better luck if deal was posted in their email mailers, but a clear photo might do. Also depending on staff member at service desk.

I've had mitre 10 decline a price match because the deal was for "VIP Card holders". In this instance it was a free, rewards card like any shop. It's like not matching a new world club card deal. I'd be very surprised if they matched an actual paid members club like CostCo

  • I have removed most of the price beat wording, as the consensus seems that it's not going to be honored.
