99% off Vietjet Flights across The Whole Network (Excl Taxes) Ex Aus, Fly 1 Jan to 22 May 2025 @ Vietjet

I posted this on ozbargain, but it occurs to me that Kiwis can probably benefit too - get a cheap flight to SYD or MEL or BNE and then grab one of these would make for an incredible price to Vietnam.

Taken with a grain of salt, but I did a quick check with a domestic Vietnam flight and the taxes were ~US$23, so that's not atrocious. Remains to be seen on Monday. Also from the wording, there's probably x on every route where x is a small number, so be fast, I guess.

While the price doesn't include tax and fees, the bargain flights are on offer from 1 January to 22 May, 2025.

The availability of discounted seats on the low-cost airline varies depending on the route and travel dates, the airline points out.

Vietjet flies from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth to destinations including Hoh Chi Minh City, Hai Noi and Da Nang.

Taxes and fees make it pretty much normal price from what I can tell. $850 return from Sydney to Ho Chi Minh, you can score flights from Auckland to Ho Chi Minh for around $1200.

    • Ouch man, damn!

    • There's some dates that are closer to $400 return from Melbourne to Ho Chi Minh. BUT that includes no checked luggage and no meals.

Keep in mind Vietjet is terrible domestically in Vietnam. If you book with them make sure you allow an extra day. They delay and cancel flights with little notice - a quick google will give ypu plenty of horror stories.

    • They were no better or worse than the domestic alternatives when we flew with them recently. Minor delays, but everything else was uneventful and we arrived with our bags everytime.

      • Anecdotal evidence kinda sucks.

45% of their flights delayed start of 2024.
We had one of our flights rescheduled 3 times (i.e. pushed out).
I really dont understand the point of your comment.

        • The point I’m making is that calling Vietjet “terrible” might be an overstatement based on my recent personal experience. While delays are relatively common (as your link indicates, about 25% of all domestic flights were delayed in early 2024), this doesn’t mean you won’t arrive or that all delays are significant though. I had a (very) quick look for "average length of delay" data but couldn't find anything outside of individual flight stats.

Regarding the delay data, it’s worth noting that the below article from 12 months earlier shows a different worst airline. Suggesting that while Vietjet delay performance has gotten worse, it isn't necessarily always the worst: https://e.vnexpress.net/news/travel/vietnam-airlines-has-hig…

I do agree that it’s important to allow extra time for potential delays and cancellations when flying with LCCs in general though. This is something everyone should consider when booking flights with these airlines.
