Slingshot Deal Hunting

As most of us know, there are a few codes out there for Slingshot offers.

BBCOMPARE22 ($65), SSGLMP3M ($87), 4MNTHSFREE ($87), BBCOMPARE20 ($77), BBCOMPARE15 ($87).

And you can test these codes by changing the code at the end of the URL (once you've added an address)

slingshot.co.nz/plans/builder?byod=Yes&frequency=Monthly&voucherCode=
slingshot.co.nz/plans/builder?byod=Yes&frequency=Monthly&voucherCode=BBCOMPARE22

I've started playing around with other words and in doing so, found police22. Doesn't give anything great because much like the other $87 codes above, it's an offer that isn't really available anymore, so it just gives you the standard $10 off.

slingshot.co.nz/plans/builder?byod=Yes&frequency=Monthly&voucherCode=police22

Anyway, thought I'd point this out in case anyone else wants to have a play around with other potential discount giving words.

  • Superb analysis and testing. Worked for me. Thanks

  • Are they honouring that $65 per month deal?

    • I've just signed up for it… Will let you know.

      • Thanks, I am going to try because Skinnys pricing has gone up and they are offering cheaper pricing to new customers that sign up, compared than existing ones

      Received this email today:

      Hi there,

Good news – your Slingshot gear is on its way!

So yep, looks like it's being honoured. Nice deal. Thanks Wakrak

      • How long did it take after signup?

        • I signed up Saturday evening the email arrived at 9:08 Monday morning.

I just signed up through fastconnect last month, had to take a phone call and ended up getting 59.99 a month for 12 months.

Slingshot recently advised the price of their 300mbps / unlimited plan was increasing $7 a month. Challenged it through the online chat, as have done previously, but this time said they couldnt do anything other than refer me to the retentions team. Never heard from them so followed it up, still never heard from them but have seen on my latest bill a credit for $7 x the 10 months remaining on my term.

    • That is good, but would they have allowed you to break the contract? If you sign up to a service for a quoted amount for a minimum term, then can they just increase the price? Their regular price is a lot more than Skinnys normal price and Skinny only increased their price $5, not $7

Yea, they gave the option to walk away too but not practical for the particular use case I have this connection set up for.

      I haven't received anything about a price increase. I pay $60 a month for 300/100.

  • Silly question - if you're already Slingshot, you can't participate on these promos right?
I'm looking everywhere and it seems 2Deg is the lowest at $71 per month (without mobile bundle - I get mine from Kogan M)

Then there's this free first month from Freedom which amounts to $68.75 per month but it's 200/200 - not sure if it'll slow my wfh setup since normally it's 300/100 speed.

And then the last one is Mercury which needs to be bundled with electricity. Even if the broadband 300/100 is $45.5/month, I've estimated that I'll fork out $40-$50 more on Mercury low power (which may be phased out) against my current Meridian one so essentially it all evens out.

Gah!!! Hope there's new promos to come T_T

    • You could always call them up and speak with their retention team to apply similar offers.

Alternatively hop on a no-contract plan for a month and come back. (Or resign with another person in the households name when ur contract period ends).

      On a $59 a month for 300/100 speed plan.

Was with Contact Energy before and it was $70 a month?

      • Thanks for this! I haven't actually tried calling retention team as I always jump to different ISPs

Do you mind if I ask that $59/month? Is it the slingshot deal from 3 months ago from Fast Connect?

        • Yeah it may have expired now - the next deal they have is $65 a month that's still active.

  • Just signed up to this deal. Got $65/month

is 4MNTHSFREE the best deal? Just checking my math is correct
    $87 x 8 months = $696 ($58 per month over 12 months)

    • If it definitely gives you four months then I guess so, yes.

      Inclusions

Broadband $10 credit for 12 months
      4 months free broadband

    • Damn. Just signed up last week for $65/m.

      • If your plan hasn't started yet, you can call them and get it changed.

        • No it's started from last week. There was no notice period from previous provider, So I signed up and started my connection within 2 days.

Worthy of a post if you're up for it

    • How did you come-up with a 4 months free? Is "4MNTHSFREE" the promo code I need to enter somewhere? Thanks
