Free samples are a two edged sword for these companies. More often than not, they let you know about products you'd never buy again. Good for consumers, but inexplicable that companies do not maximise the opportunity for a bit of market research.
If they'd included some means of feedback, would have gladly let them know that we wouldn't buy this product and why. Wasted opportunity for them.
I absolutely don't understand this too. With any free sample companies are idiots if they don't get some free feedback. I'd tell them to take the salted caramel recipe and bury it with the ark of the covenant.
