This is the closed back version, not the more widely known open back classic HD598. It still is reported to have equally as good audio quality, just a different sound signature.

The HD598 has gone on special (abeit the open version) generally each year on black friday, dropping to $99USD. This time it's the HD598C.

It comes with two audio cables which is handy, and ships directly to NZ. Price is from amazon's currency converter.

  Openback generally give a 'better' sound but closed back reduce noise bleed.

    Yeah i haven't read many reviews on these but they seem fairly good.

    Traditionally open back has a wider sound stage, and closed back has slightly more bass.

  Good deal. It is now around $164 NZD equivalent on the US site and for some reason the Amazon App referral credit of $5 can only be applied from the US store so I used that.

      Friday Night, they came by DHL. Meanwhile my Cotton On order from Friday morning remains nowhere to be seen -_-
