  • Only one left at the Wanganui store and they are not getting any more in apparently.

    • Allowed me to Click and Collect for upper hutt

Not sure whether I need it but should I get 1?

    • This was my exact thought process before ordering one. Could be good for tightening lug nuts accurately?

      • Well for 42 - 210 N.m only. 42 is quite a bit.

        • Quite a bit for what though? I'm no mechanic but quick google says wheel lugs torque depends on the rims and stuff I don't understand, but generally the range mentioned online is 90 - 130 Nm, with 110 - 120 being pretty common.

So this sounds OK for that as a home/YouTube mechanic?

        • I wish I had checked before buying one.

          You are 100% correct.
It's not much use unless it can go lower.
My valve cover bolts for my Toyota should be tightened to a maximum of 14Nm.
42Nm would snap the head off.

Always useful when working on cars. The last thing you want is to overtighten and strip the threads.

  • Been looking at buying a torque wrench for a while, excellent deal!.

Looks just like the one I have (probably is, same OEM different brands), and it's perfect for spark plugs, oil changes and just generally when you need a long bar.

Over-torquing a spark plug will snap it off (and the threshold is very low), under-torquing it will create misfires.

Torque is measured in ugga duggas and oofs and you never want to go full on Harambe.

Wheel nuts should be one oof.

Bunnings offer this at the same price but regularly
    https://www.bunnings.co.nz/craftright-4-piece-torque-wrench-…

The range extends lower (30Nm compared to 42Nm), but it comes without the 21mm socket or socket adaptor.

Any experience on how Mechpro compares to Craftright quality/durability-wise?
