The Low Quantity Thread

Limited Quantity

If your deal has limited quantity, please mention it in the description. If the quantity is too small then your deal may be removed. As a guideline, less than 10 quantity of items is not enough for a deal unless the item has a high price.

This is the thread for these deals.

Manukau should still have 1 size 9 and 1 size 11 in-store just not available online. The other two pairs that were online are gone.

    Samsung Galaxy Watch4 Classic 46mm (Black) - $227 (Was $588)
    https://www.jbhifi.co.nz/products/samsung-galaxy-watch4-clas…

Not going to post this as a deal as the last time it went Out Of Stock almost instantly / appears they are just restocking these sporadically.

This one was already gone. Another one is added - Apple Watch Series 7 41mm Midnight Aluminium Case GPS + Cellular - $297

      https://www.jbhifi.co.nz/products/apple-watch-series-7-41mm-…

      • and… gone

        • I ordered one, it showed 5 as I could add 5 to my cart, but I ordered just 1. Will be interesting to see if it is fulfilled as the previous one I ordered off them last week got cancelled due to no stock.

          • +1

@nzmax: There was only 1 in stock when I checked after it loaded this morning - was showing at the Christchurch South City store, had someone order it for Click and Collect to see if it would work. All of the below have been cancelled after ordering.

            • Series 6 40MM - Restocked on the 19th and 20th
            • Series 7 41MM - Restocked on the 21st and 22nd
            • +1

@taneb1: Yes I ordered it for click and collect from that store, and emailed them to ask for it to be delivered as their website states that items can be delivered. This is what I did a week ago for another apple watch and they said they would arrange for it to be sent to me, Then they emailed me later to say the order had been allocated to someone else and cancelled it. So if it happens again I won't be happy with them.

              • @nzmax: And they cancelled the order due to no stock. Second time in a week.

    https://www.pbtech.co.nz/product/HOMOPS0010/Olimpia-Splendid…

    https://www.harveynorman.co.nz/home-appliances/heating-and-c…

    • A shame there's very little stock across the country.

    • Would this be similar to a heat pump?

      • Yes, and unless you're absolutely desperate, I wouldn't recommend one. If at all possible, install a cheap split system. This video explains things with these portable units (they are mostly all the same)
        https://youtu.be/_-mBeYC2KGc

        • Anyone considering a portable unit obviously has a reason for it.

          • @Plug: I understand. I'm just suggesting that you should consider all your options. The fact that portable units are usually (slightly) cheaper than having a low end split system installed should not, on its own, persuade you to buy one.

If you're renting, consider offering to contribute to getting a split system with your landlord. This will ultimately be cheaper to buy and run than any portable unit. No, of course you don't get to take it with you, but performance wise and cost wise you'll be far better off.

If you own but think you can't afford split, shop around, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at what you can find for under $1000 installed. It may save you $400 per year in electricity costs over a portable, paying itself off in a year or two.

I'm just sharing my experience. I understand some people might genuinely not have any other option, I'm just saying that these are a poor choice if you do have options. I worked four summers in two different stifling offices with poor ventilation and two different brands of these running, so I personally know what they're like. And they're barely better than nothing, all things considered.

            • @CheapAzChips: There is a requirement for landlord to provide heating that is appropriate for room size, check online.

Heater(s) must be fixed (not portable) and must be at least 1.5 kW in heating capacity and meet the minimum heating capacity needed for the main living room.

In most cases, the acceptable types of heater(s) will be a larger fixed heating device like a heat pump, wood burner, pellet burner or flued gas heater. In some cases, such as small apartments, a smaller fixed electric heater may be enough.

              https://www.tenancy.govt.nz/healthy-homes/heating-standard/#…

It's probably a requirement for the landlord to have a heatpump and if it is, and they don't, then they need to remedy and you probably qualify for rent reduction +/- compensation via tenancy tribunal.

              • +1

@kiwijunglist: Yes, agreed, but for many people in many areas it could be far more expensive to run, for example, a pellet fire than a heat pump. There's no requirement to provide cooling in summer, and there's no requirement to provide heating in bedrooms - so there are many ways that a landlord could technically meet the requirement without installing a heat pump where it's needed.

As a landlord myself now, I would gladly go beyond the minimum requirements for a good tenant to make the place more comfortable if the tenant was willing to come to the party on costs. It increases the likelihood that the tenant stays on, reduces ongoing costs to them (meaning the rent is more likely to be paid), increases the value of the property, and significantly reduces the risk of fire from heating via electric heaters or fireplace. What's not to like?

            • @CheapAzChips: I bought the reverse cycle one that was posted on here for my bedroom, and it's been excellent during summer. It drops my room from near 30°C to 20°C very quickly. I don't feel a full unit is necessary in there, because I wouldn't have any use for one during the other seasons

    • For anyone thinking about this, I have this one and it is a very good, as far as portable AC's in NZ go (we don't get dual hose, inverter etc.).

Uses about 0.9kW when cooling and 1.4kW when heating. Since it's not inverter it'll just cycle on and off to maintain temp. When it's cycled off it's around 0.2kW.

I tried it with NL online but the agent was available multiple times.
Called them but said only can pricematch over online chat.

Online chat never worked. and now i missed the boat.. damn

Called them but said only can pricematch over online chat.

that's not true (unless you only wanted to click and collect / deliver) but they probably wanted to move the ~$500 or so hit to the online store

            • @Grandma: gutted. I got lied to… and missed the opportunity

edit: oh I see there was another guy who got it through NL above. nevermind haha

@HappyChipMonk: My one was ready for collection within 1 hour so i collected it quickly just in case

          • @HappyChipMonk: I tried but the price changed in the middle of the chat, and they wouldn't give it to me for that price, he said he would get my discount code and be back in 10 minutes then he left for 30 minutes, and the price changed. :(

            • @pinch: that's pretty much what happend to me with NL and JB HIFI

JB HIFI even confirmed they will match the price ($643.34) and create the invoice. Took a while to create a invoice (40mins) and the ascent price changed during that period, the invoice came back with normal pricing. Sad.

I am too sad that I suspect one of the retailer called Ascent to correct the price..
