  • With my central Auckland address, I had been fixed on Good Nights plan since August with 23.7c/kWh plus 30c/day.

Current Good Nights plan looks like 29.1c/kWh compared to 23.9c/kWh with the other plans, which is about 18% more, so need to have more than 18% of power use 9pm-midnight, which I achieve (~30% over summer without heating costs), showers and occasional laundry after 9pm (no gas).

    Hope this helps.

  • (Above for low user and excl. GST)

Compared to Electric Kiwi 29.26c/kWh and 32c/day excl. GST. One hour of power and 10% stay ahead discount.

Low user rates are likely on the way out. Some providers have already made the change. Google for more info.

Low user rates still have 5 years or so to go. Govt is phasing them out by doubling the low user daily fee each year (the maximum daily charge that power companies can charge per day). It's 60c now but looks like some companies haven't changed it, yet, electric kiwi being one of them.

Lot more to read about it here https://www.mbie.govt.nz/building-and-energy/energy-and-natu…

60c a day for the privilege of electricity without using any. wow.
Personally It will be a sad day when low user rates go. hardly use any power, our heating/cooking/water is all on gas. so to pay 60c a day to turn on some led lights is pretty harsh. going to have to get some mining operations setup or something to at least get an roi

        • I'm in the same boat, everything is gas , wonder if I can get some sort of gas generator or a solar setup and skip the electricity daily charge.

  • Anyone know what plans the 200off code works on? Seems to only work on the broadband bundle plans, at least for my address..

    • When this was posted way back in September 2021, the OP said:

The code no longer works for the "Basic" plan. It now only works for "Bach" plan or if you bundle Electricity with Broadband. So you can try signing up for "Bach" and then switching to "Good nights" or "Everyday Bonus Fixed" later. If you want to go straight to "Good nights" or "Everyday Bonus Fixed", use the referal link, you'll get $100 credit and so will the referer, if you stay with Contact at least 30 days.

You make a good point in your question. Be more helpful to list what it does work on rather than what it does not work on.

  • Tried switching from a no fixed rate plan to a no fixed rate energy plan bundle with Gas - simplicity and initially, the 200 off wasn't accepted but the 100thanks was. After getting to the last screen, it suddenly accepted the 200off code so awaiting my first bill i guess.

    • How'd you go?

      • They didn't end up bundling the gas, not sure why yet but still put me on the same plan i changed to..and gave me something like $170 credit
