Breville the Smart Kettle BKE825BSS $145.20 + Shipping / $0 CC (Kaitaia) @ Folders ($130.96 via Pricebeat at Briscoes)

30

I was needing a new kettle and Consumer rate this kettle as one of their top kettles. It has lots of good features.

Folders who are an online store, but also have one retail shop have it on sale. But unless you live near their retail store shipping is up to $10.

Retail Store
15 North Park Drive
Kaitaia, 0410

However, Briscoes have a price beat policy where they will beat a NZ retail store price by 10%. So I got it for $130.68 at Briscoes as they had it in-stock. This is pretty good value. The RRP is $299.

  • Need store name (Folders) in title OP.
Here is the Briscoes link if anyone is wanting to use the Price beat policy.

    • Struggled to have room for it. I removed he shipping price from the title, as people could pick it up if they live near the store, and you can only do price beat by going into a briscoes store anyway.

  • Hey OP. Just be careful when mentioning FOLDERS, rumour has it that NL will no longer price match them, as suspected Parallel Import.

    • Lol "suspected" as NL doesn't parallel import themselves.

    • I can't see anything in their FAQs that indicate that these would be PI. So not sure how NL could claim that to try and get out of price matching based on that if it isn't clear to consumers. But NLs price matching polcies are very long and vague I have found when trying to get items price matched in the past. Briscoes are simple, short and clear.

  • genuine question
any pros VS cheaper kettles when purchasing $100+ ones?

    • +1

This one in particular, only the different temps it stops at.

      • Also can keep it hot. Also beeps when done. It is also rated the top kettle by Consumer NZ.

    • Objectively prettier, faster, more efficient, quieter and longer lasting. In theory, that is. Quite often it’s more about the first one and less about the others, although I will say that I bought an earlier generation of this very kettle 12+ years ago and it’s still cranking out the steamy stuff on the daily and looks alright when doing it.

      • My parents have this same one which they they got in 2018 and still working fine. They have previously had kettles only last a few years and paid around this price. Some leaked at the window, others the lid kept popping up, others just burnt out. But as this is valued at $300 normally, you would expect a $300 kettle to last a long time. That is what I think $130 is pretty decent value for this. But YMMV

    • Stainless steel boiling chamber. PA free windows. Lots of features. Durability, and this is also rated the top kettle by Consumer NZ. It also looks nicer than many kettles being sold.

    • At this price it should really be a dual wall kettle.

There are a few lesser known brands (Midea for example) that do dual wall + temperature control at this price.

      • But how reliable are they long term? This is a top brand and top ranked by Consumer and normal RRP of $299.I have found Brevilles after sales service also to be very good. I have had a lot of kettles over the years that only last a few years before they fail. Not too many kettles are dual wall.

        • I have used a couple of their crystal clear glass kettles (I like the clean look) and all of them have really poorly designed soft opening lids made of flimsy plastic that fails quickly.

Their stainless steel ones are much better and are built much more durably (also weighs a bit more)
I'm currently using a Midea dual wall kettle and have been looking at similar Xiaomi ones. With kids around the house I do prefer dual wall ones.

  • Had a look and its not really smart, they shouldn't be calling it that. I got an actual smart kettle from mightape on sale last week - https://www.mightyape.co.nz/product/smart-ape-smart-kettle-1… which uses the Tuya ecosystem like all the smart ape and kogen things so is all good in alexa.

    • I think this kettle was invented before 'smart' kettles existed. I do have a 'smart' kettle in my office which connects to an app, but it is a bit cheap and budget, and not sure how long the smart features and app will be supported for.

  • Hi OP do you know how do I price beat at Briscoes online? Cheers

    • I don't think they allow that. I went into the store.
