The battery life sucks but the phone is fairly similar to the S23 and S24 so it's a good deal.

  • Looking at its specs (particularly battery), wonder who would pay the original price for this? I bought mine from this deal posted in cheapies - https://www.cheapies.nz/node/45565, which is great.

Having said that, this deal seems to be not bad if someone is a Samsung fan.

  • I used to have one of these, the battery life is terrible, upgraded to the S24 earlier this year and it's greatly improved.

    • Yeah I have an S23. Battery life is important so even though the S22 is cheaper I would get frustrated with it.

    • I have a S22 Plus, cannot wait to replace it for the S25 series next year (hopefully with a trade-in discount and coupon stacking :P).

Although the battery is better than the S22, I still have to charge it at least twice a day.

    • When we are talking about terrible battery life what numbers are we actually talking about here? Because I'm not too sure what is considered good and bad and how to know if my battery life is terrible since it's so subjective.

My phone lasts 7.5 hours SOT on a full charge which I think is okay. I generally use my phone for less than this each day so it doesn't really bother me. And if I'm running low or forget to charge I can top up really fast.

  • Went and got it to replace my 10e, i wanted the s23 but was a little slow for that great deal last year

    • Your S10e battery life may actually be better, there is a few guides online on battery optimisation settings which are worth trying.

S22 user here - battery life is atrocious, if you are buying the phone for battery life, steer clear away.

Camera, screen and performance is great (especially with the latest One UI) otherwise 100% correct.

    • atrocious how? Like lasts 1 hour, 4 hours, 8? If not gaming or watching stuff.

Wife throws hers on the charger couple times a day to top up, but rarely gets it below 50% anyway.. Not an issue really tho… Really good specs for that price. Great camera. No lags….

    • ? Different phone and $2299 vs $632.35, so not good if you just want the S22.

Comes with a free s22 i think was their point.

  • is this a snapdragon chipset? battery is small for the screen size.

Interesting it's gone down even more now - priced at $632.35 now.

    • They have a price guarantee thingy where if its cheaper in 30 days theyll refund the difference, im on my way there 2mro. Thanks for the heads-up.

actually looks like thats a paid option. Ohwell

  • Someone on Geekzone said

This standard S22 was terrible with battery life, updated to 14 > factory reset > some debloating > change some settings > now it seems much better at holding its charge and slowly sipping juice. Would be much better if they made it like this out of the box

    but doesn't elaborate beyond that.

tl;dr on a 'flagship', I have had to turn off AOD, run routines to activate power saving during certain hours, lose out on the 120hz screen refresh etc.

Went on holiday recently with the wife, and her iphone 13 in real use had easily double the battery life. I was lugging my 20,000mAh pack everyday.

My previous androids included a oneplus one, which hit 8-9 hours SoT reliabliy - be lucky to hit 4 on my S22.

It's a brilliant phone in every other aspect, but lets it down severely by the battery life (probably through the chip not running efficiently etc).

  • CSC discount Cheapie'd

  • Got Wife one in Oct 22. Small battery. But that's quite manageable really…. It's a damn good phone otherwise. Great camera. No other issues. I paid $1009.
