4 months Free Broadband on 12-month Contract ($87/Month 300 Mbps, $99/Month 900 Mbps Next 8 Months) @ Slingshot (New Customers)

230

Reposting this. Effectively $58 per month for 300/100 (if you divide total cost of year by months paid assuming you cancel after fixed term) + $5/mo for modem (+ $14.95 shipping) or BYO modem.

Click on Deal link to join or use URL with code (4MNTHSFREE) hardcoded below;
slingshot.co.nz/plans/builder?byod=Yes&frequency=Monthly&voucherCode=4MNTHSFREE

So, you get first 4 months free then pay $87 ($97 - $10 automatic discount) for the remaining 8 months. Total cost is $696 over 12 months, effectively $58 per month if you divide the total by 12. Add another $12 for those months to pay if you want gigabit speed.

  • i am with 2 degrees at the moment. 12 month contract finished in october, does anyone know if they need 30 days notice period? does that even apply once contract/ fixed price finished?

what do you normally do with 30 days notice period provider? i've never had one before

    • +1

Call 2degrees and see what they say I reckon

If you're thinking of cancelling your Broadband plan, you'll need to give us a call on 0800 022 022 from any New Zealand phone, or +64 22 200 2000 from overseas.

If you terminate your existing plan, you may be liable for any plan discounts you received when you first signed up. You will also need to return any modem and Wi-Fi extenders you may have received along with your plan.

    • Na i switched away from 2Degrees at end of contract and all g. Slingshot even did the disconnecting for me with 2Degrees

      • +1

Thats because 2degrees owns slingshot, if you left to/from another provider 2degrees/slingshot will 100% enforce their 30 days notice. I just left them, hence how i know.

        • They don't have a 30 day notice period.

    • I switched from 2d to Slingshot earlier this year. 2degrees don't need 30 days notice, but you have to pay up until your billing date. Since you generally pay in advance the best way to maximize this is look on you last bill and look at the billing period.

For example my billing period ran until 31st of the month so I reqested the change over date on this day.

I used my existing modem and transition was seamless and I didn't need to change any settings.

I suspect they didn't actually do anything because they are the same company.

  • Just re-signed with 2d last week 🤦 $70 per month with static ip. Maybe next year.

    • Better than what I could get from them. I just joined 2D last week aswell. Best they would do was $80 per month + $60 credit. Which makes it $75 over the 12 months. 🤦

  • Is this deal likely to be valid for awhile? Unable to get off my current ISP until near the end of December

    • Hard to say but has been available since February

      • I think perhaps this deal is a mistake. It wasn't meant to be combined with the $10 off per month offer.

It's also been around longer than February because you posted it over a year ago and 16 months ago and its never included the $10 off. There are also other 3 months off codes and in all instances, they didn't use to include a monthly discount, but now they all do.

The $10 additional discount has been added recently, and it's retroactively applied to all existing old codes. Whether or not they intended it is unsure.

  • If I have been with Slingshot previously, how long before I can sign-up with them again as a 'new customer'.

    • +1

Hard to say but you can always sign up using another family members name.

  • I’m currently with 2D and thought about switching to Skinny - they do 300/100 for $65 if you BYO modem on a 12 month. But with Slingshot it’s another $10 off.

Would you recommend Slingshot or Skinny? Or perhaps a renegotiation with 2D?

    • +2

You pretty much have to switch to get these deals. Skinny won't negotiate at all I found.

    • Never had an issue with either company once up and running. Only thing I didn't like about Skinny is you can't do automatic/partial payments. Whereas whenever I get the bill from Slingshot, I've already got $70 in the account.

  • Hi Ajay,

    Thanks for getting in touch,

I'm sorry to say but Slingshot does not offer price matching for new accounts.

After looking into your new account: 3******** I can see that you have requested to sign up using an expired promotional code for 4 months free. The new account has been automatically cancelled and you will need to create a new account with our current offers on our website.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reply to this email and I’ll be more than happy to assist. Alternatively, you can call us on 0800 89 6000 between 8am to 8pm during weekdays and 10am to 6:30pm on weekends and over public holidays, o

    • Will expire. If anyone else has a different experience, please let us know.

      • My guess is Slingshot saw the big rush of signups using the code after you posted this deal, and had staff try to manually invalidate the deal afterwards.

I signed up a few hours before you posted this deal using the same "4MNTHSFREE" code (I got it from the forum thread) and I've received no such Email….yet. I'm now connected with Slingshot as of this morning.

      • I signed up using this link last night and was connected this morning, I was pretty impressed by how quick it happened. My old connection was due to tick over tomorrow

        • The four months free offer? I’ll remove expiry then.

          • @Wakrak: Yeah, 4 months and $10-off per month. Perhaps it's expired now, but it definitely wasn't last night

          • +2

@Wakrak: My partner rang them about this deal this morning. They said it's not valid and are cancelling sign-ups being made from yesterday afternoon

        • +1

I signed up this afternoon, got all the connection emails, hopefully it’ll go through 🤞

  • Pretty sure I saw the deal expire several months ago, but I was able to get the same connection for $60 per month through Fast connect.

    • when did you apply/connect?

      • Yesterday

    • FastConnect don’t seem to have this deal anymore.

I contacted them yesterday, and the cheapest fibre deal they did was $65 for 50/10 at 2 Degrees.

I signed up for this deal instead. Seems to have gone through (I got all the confirmation emails).

Will post an update if the connection actually gets provisioned.

Leaving this here for future researchers, this $65 (300mbps) / $77 (900mbps) per month deal is still valid and working as of Nov 2024. I signed up last week and have received confirmation.

    • Could also try the $59.95 Fast Connect deal
      https://www.cheapies.nz/node/45699

      • just had a call from fast connect, they said cheapest deal they have at the moment is $85 from 2 degrees

        • Yikes thats expensive

        • They offered me $65 for 50/10 speed at 2 Degrees.

          • @FrugalFinds: When? I asked about a month and a half ago and the cheapest they quoted was like $75/mo

            • @Latex Fist: That was Monday 😊.

It’s still cheaper at other providers though - 50/10 is $60 with other providers

    • I signed up using this 2 weeks back and can confirm it is working still.

  • Does moving get you out of the contract?
Often if you take utility company X with you, they break the contract but sign you up on open term full price at your next place

  • I try yesterday and get that email today.

  • I am paying 93 per month with 2d for unlimited 900 download. Ends in Feb 25, hopefully will be valid then.

2d said if I want to sign up as a new customer and get their deals, I need to cancel my contract, then resign and that would be about a week with no wifis while they resign. Wasn't keen on that so not getting new deals. Been with the 4 years

    • just go on a trip

      • Good 1. Lol

    • Can you live without streaming video and downloads? If so then I think you'll survive with the $5 Kogan starter deal, for 15GBs. Note you'll need to wait for the SIM to arrive in the mail.

Or just go spend your days in an internet cafe, and download what you need there.

  • $58 a month vs my current $65 a month with Skinny 🤔 not worth the faff. Shame about the 12 month contract

    • skinny on 12 month contract too?

      • Yeah.

  • I think this is still working but seems to be depending on your luck - I signed up on Tuesday, was connected Wednesday, and my account is active and shows both the $10 discount and 4 months free. I was moving from Contact to Slingshot if that means anything.

    • +1

did you give Contact a 30 day notice before you change provider, apparently, as per their condition they need 30 day notice? or perhaps they will charge you for an extra month.

      https://contact.co.nz/support/broadband#How-do-I-cancel-my-b…

      • Thanks for letting me know. I called up and they had removed the broadband but not updated the billing. They were happy to retrospectively update the billing to reflect the date it switched over, so no 30-day notice for me. Great service and kind of of motivates me to move back to them after this term ends :)

  • Is it still available?

    • +1

No code does not work, i actually got connected this month as they honored many connections arranged at the time of this post
