I think they don't even check the A04 trade-ins. I sent a nonworking A04 crossed all the boxes the phone was Google locked. The screen was broken, but I could see IMEI with the emergency number. Got the trade-in value the same as if it was a new all perfectly good one.

Hard to say IMO. Big thing is the 20%. Most recent flash sales have been 15% and they're so common they're pretty much dime a dozen by now. This is 20% so it's fair amount better also maybe why it was only 24 instead of standard 72 hours. But there was that 30% members code back in August which while you couldn't stack with a flash sale I think was better for some. EPP has also had 30% sometimes although you can only do a single stacking nowadays so only UPGRADES24 (and maybe 10% new). Anyway for non EPP, I'm not hoping for 30% but it's possible we might get 25% on Black Friday. I decided to risk it thinking we'll probably at least get another 20% sometimes before Christmas. Also my tradein is still with the courier so no idea of the IMEI.
I just find another IMEI from another phone doesn't matter what model, done that twice no problem. Same issue waiting for the trade in phone to arrive in the post.
Oh yeah if I definitely wanted to buy it would have just used wrong IMEI. Did feel it better not to if possible though, the less room you give for Assurant to complain possibly the slightly lower risk they'll mess with you. Tradein is a S08, definitely broken screen and locked, possibly other things as well so just ticked no to everything except yes to does it turn on. Was zero base value as expected so don't think they would have complained but you never know. (Even perfect is $25 or something, basically worthless) But yeah was a minor annoyance hadn't quite arrived but reason didn't but the bullet was still hoping for more. Planning S24 Ultra 512GB so even another 5% will be quite a bit more savings in dollar terms.
Traded in my S22 for a S24 last time this deal was up, but kinda regretted not getting a S24+ for the bigger screen and battery. Now I could trade it in and get the plus for $16.36… not sure I can turn that down 😅

If you dont have the app discounts then you can use shopback for a whole %1.5 cashback. I guess you can use that to buy a congratulatory block of whitakers if nothing else.

The IMEI checker doesn't do much. I think it might check your phone isn't on a blacklist (i.e. reported stolen etc) but that's it. You can make up an IMEI completely and provided you deal with the IMEI check digit it should be accepted.
I have the idea some people have used a random/wrong IMEI for the phone they sent in e.g. because they hadn't yet bought the tradein and got by phone. But these were cases where the phone they sent in was they said. (And obviously not stolen etc or where the actual IMEI was rejected.)
What they do if you send an invalid tradein I dunno. Given Assurant's reputation it's quite risky IMO, they might and are arguably entitled to anyway just completely remove your whole tradein including bonuses and charge you or demand you pay everything.

Yes, they will give you 7 days after you receive the new phone to send out the old phone.

@rainoftears: You have to download the app called Samsung Members, usually the code only applies if you have had a Samsung phone before. Some people have had luck before contacting customer service for codes.

Yeah getting in Early is usually better with Samsung Online shop as you may also encounter codes that expire or stock runs out too,
IMO fair chance there will be another 20% flash sale before Christmas. Can't guarantee it of course. Personally I only saw this late but might have still made it. Was about 5 minutes left when I'd entered all my codes to check price. But intentionally waited since still hoping for a bit better and also my tradein hasn't arrived so would need to put the wrong IMEI.
At least they sent you back to the cart I guess. Not like some sites which just remove the coupon or other expired discount without telling you and charge you new price. (Although if you're willing to argue, in those cases you might be able to convince them to give you what they said they would.)

@Toeler: I think it mainly depends on how many stock is left. I bet samsung still had a lot of stock left so they did the pre black friday sale to get rid of them. if they got rid of a lot of stock by this, they possbily won't do much on black friday. But if there is still a lot of stock, they will possibly do even better deal on Black Friday. From what I see, there is no phone running out of stock, so they possibly still have quite a lot of stock left. Hopefully, they will do a better deal tomorrow
@tomgeniewang: You probably won't see a better deal, as normal Samsung realizes at the last minute that people were double dipping on the codes.
Or just make something up and use a check digit calculator. E.g you can enter 111111111111119 and it'll accept it. (Although 000000000000000 isn't accepted despite being theoretically valid I think.)
