They're OK as long as you don't are about crappy blacks and audio. The Freeview tuner is also a bit crap - I had a somewhat damaged UHF antenna but I couldn't be bothered to fix it as my old Sony had good enough reception, with occasional digital artifacts. The Veon the artifacts were worse so I fixed the antenna and now it works fine. Not that I cared much about it anyway as I Chromecast all day long.

Note the remote codes are impossible to find for this TV so you'll need a learning universal remote.

+100 on this part. Veon are not supported on the Logitech Harmony remote website/database, and no one are the warehouse knows anything about them. The main killer is they don't have any discrete input selection IR codes, so you can't force the TV to switch to hdmi2 for example with any confidence. In a universal remote world, that's kinda huge.

Also note that a lot of the Veon TV's don't have a basic line level RCA stereo audio output, it's only digital coax. This may or many not be an issue, but it rules out a lot of basic soundbars, and you will need something if you want to use the onboard audio, because frankly it's sht.

So, all good if this is part of a home theatre setup, where it's always going to be on hdmi to display the image being sent to it from a home theatre receiver, and where the home theatre receiver handles the audio via external surround speakers etc.

      • The Warehouse get their Veon-branded TVs from a variety of different Chinese TV OEMs, so codes a probably different for each model. I searched Alibaba for the manufacturer and I think this one was made by a company called Shenzhen Vitek, and I saw some Veon TVs being loaded into a truck their Alibaba product listings.

This specific TV (VN6508LED) has HDMI-ARC, but you're sacrificing one of the 3 HDMI outputs for the soundbar.
