stock levels :(
The Surface 2 RT's are very limited in functionality iirc only runs apps from the windows store
$99 though…
damn the surface 3 is cheap. Stuck at work. Whats the likelihood of there being any left tomorrow, or even now
wouldnt even get any thing though, all old stock
They could have saved this for black Friday sales.
Wow… Great deals! Shame I'm not in Auckland. If not I'll be the first person to queue!
My mate just went down there surface pro 3 are all sold out.
Guess the same with the acer i5
With many items only having a stock level of 5 or 10 you would prob have better odds winning lotto, like a ploy to get people in the door over the 3 days
Na you'll get stuff you want if you get there early enough, they give out no.s in the queue for what you want. I scored a Samsung washer for 299 here in chch in one of their sales.
At least they are putting in the quantities on the promotion, so people know the stock numbers they have.
Not surprised with the stock levels and low price.
I went there at ~2pm. Was told all the advertised, limited-quantity items had sold out quickly.
Fortunately, they continued to bring out items from their stockroom throughout the day with prices almost as good.
Ended up getting:
- 2 x Surface Pro 3 i3 64GB (2nd one cheaper but poor box condition)
- 1 x Surface Pro 4 Type Cover
- 1 x Asus Transformer Book T100
- 1 x Surface Pro 2 64GB
- 1 x Xbox One (no controller or cords)
The store closed at 5:30pm with people still wanting to buy stuff and stuff being brought out from the stockroom, so there may still be some deals tomorrow.
Now those are what you call deals. Pity it is Auckland.
Look closer guys, alot of items are "Ex Display" or "Carton Damage". I have been to this clearance centre a few times, and most items I noticed are also ex-repaired goods (and looks badly repaired lol), customer returned goods (dropped in the loo? eep) etc etc. Yes the prices are cheap, but they are certainly not new, end of line products…
A good point. I went there today, the laptops and tablets ran the gamut: 'as new, only opened to show customer', 'display model', 'refurbished', damaged packaging, missing cords and adapters, obvious scratches on the screen.
There used to be a NL clearance centre at the Manukau Supa Centa (it's a different shop now), the stuff there were OK, mostly homeware. Prices wasn't that great however.
Yeah lots of these temporary clearance centres will pop up from time to time. Usually when a store closes down (ie. Good Guys, DSE etc) selling ex-repaired and ex-demo crap, oops I mean, products :)
True. I went there yesterday and bought a laptop with stellar specs for really, really cheap. Unfortunatelly it goes back today, it's full of hidden faults. There was a repair sticker on the box. I guess they gave up as the laptop was too expensive to repair.
Hardware faults?
Yes, battery, RTC battery, USB3 ports, overheating and switching off at will, glued removable service cover (that has screws),…
Haha, nice.
Yeah, and a crooked web camera that can't be fixed without screen surgery. A modern gaming laptop and desktop replacement at the same price as PB Tech's "refurbished" 5yr old junk. Turns out you get what you pay anyway.
I wonder what would happen if you tried to claim it under warranty to the manufacturer? It should have warranty period remaining and by providing proof of purchase, it should being from the date you purchased it.
@Shaw:
Perhaps I should try that before returning the laptop. I suspect they'll simply return the money and sell it at another "clearance" event.
Yea, that's what I'm thinking too, it'd just be sold to someone else.
Give it a shot, can't do any harm. It should at least have a few months warranty as of date of purchase, but can't be sure, I know a recent purchase we made was out of warranty based on some other date, but I sent proof of purchase and they updated it, that was HP.
Won't the manufacturer check the serial numbers and find out that it has been flagged as "Unable to be Repaired Properly - Should have been disposed by NL in the first place" or something lol…
@footy7: That is really poor that it was for sale then, as wouldn't they have had a refund for it? That also doesn't match the advertising of the sale, which is supposed be ex-demo and carton damaged stuff. Not stuff that has previously had repairs unsuccessfully, or things which are damaged.
@nzmax: Yeah I have been to this place a few times in the past, so was very surprised to see a "tech clearance sale" with only "ex-demos" and "carton damaged" products. Those advertised prices ought to be a dead giveaway already. Nobody in NZ will sell "ex-demos" at those crazy low prices. If it's too good to be true, then it probably is…
Anyone going today? Please check if any tab s left?
Drove thru didn't bother to go in as crazy crowd queueing at the front door waiting to go in -.-"
The crowd has died down now at 3pm, there are only some laptops, a few phones and baskets full of cases that should've been destined for the bin.
Leftovers of leftovers…. Avoid! :)
Been yesterday about 2pm almost everything gone but manage to get surface 2pro i5\8\256 no box or charger hens $199
Was there at opening today, a few good items left.
Picked up 2 Nexus 5X @ $149 each.
Saw some guy pick up the "last" surface pro 3.
Nexus 5X @ $149 each
Very nice. Any faults?
Both were new :)
Can't complain about that, good grab!
That "last" surface pro 3 is probably a customer return. They told me on Friday that all SP3s were gone.
My mate picked up a surface pro 3 i7/512gb. Unbootable. Waiting on a replacement (if they can find one).
The queue to get in on Saturday was over an hour at 9am. So I walked away. Got better things to do with my time.
You mean…. NL waiting for another customer to return their faulty surface pro 3 back and 'replace' that with the returned unit….. ummm, I would strongly advise your mate to get their money back right then and there!
For those now with Surface Pros, remember to contact Microsoft for a new power cord:
