What do you purchase from Ali these days? I haven't bought anything since covid due to 50% of the packages never showing up

    • I purchased a USB to m.2 SSD inclosure a few weeks ago and it works quite well. Also got a 2x 10Gb pcie NIC card that's being slow in shipping, but I got a $1 coupon for the delay.

      • can you link the 2x 10Gb pcie NIC you bought?

        • Can't link it, but search for 'x540 t2 10g' and you'll find them. They seem to be recycled Intel T540 chips onto new PCBs

          • @xwing: Which seller did you go with?

            • @Wakrak: I purchased from 'QueenHamster Store' but its still in shipping so can't speak to the quality yet.

          • @xwing: I saw those but on intel specs it states. "10GbE/1GbE/100Mb" can it do 2.5gbe?.
I got those black 2.5Gbe cards for my server and the tplink switch.

            • @coffeee: No I don't think it can do 2.5Gbe, but my plan is to network it into a switch with one or two ports 10g and the rest 2.5g. This network architecture makes more sense to me for multiple clients and also cost for any NIC chips that support 2.5 are alot newer and costly for the performance.

          • @xwing: Paste the link only upto .html part. Remove everything after that. If you are copying from the app. Paste it in a browser first and copy and remove everything after .html.

        • Found this one

          • @ace310: Thanks for the tip on urls. I ordered this one with RJ45 rather than sfp+ ports as it cheaper and I'm not doing long cable runs.

Artwork, Mi Band 8 Active straps, water flosser - my last order.

Prior to that, baby monitor, shower bottles, lamps, Tuya temperature monitors.

    • I tend to buy all sorts of random things, stupid things like cable management clips cost cents that if I got them here wouldn't be close to that pricing.

Phone cases and screen protectors are also great at a few bucks each, if you buy one and like it buy a few more while they have them and when it fails you have one ready to swap out right away. Again, phone cases here can be $20+ so you pick up 3 or 4 for that.

There's a whole thread of things form this sort of store here:

    • Have bought couple of grands worth of stuff in last few years. Not a single parcel missed yet.

Have few eufy cameras, 2.5gx 8 port switch(10gx1), n100 mini pc, some pc hardware cables, hdd case, nvme pcie card, lots of smart home sensors aqara especially, couple of esp32 + mmwave + light sensors, smart roller blinds, phone cables, lots of Birthday decorations for 2 kids over the years and lots of other small stuffs.

There are ways to find reliable good sellers. For a while I have been only buying from choice sellers so shipping is fast like within 15 days mostly or faster.

  • Ditto, 4tb hard drive, sas cables, esp32s, iot stuff like plugs, door sensors and switches. Nothing lost in last year or so. About to buy some larger hard drives…photo search is great for finding stuff like the connectors for joining a 2 peice sofa together.

I can't say it's a good idea to buy any HDDs from AliExpress, there's a very high chance they are heavily used

  • Plastics, standard electronics, WiFi plugs, led, I've been away from them for awhile but these were always acceptable

  • good if you also use shopback when buying from aliexpress

  • Got the anbernic rg35xx h handheld console for $91

I haven't had any troubles getting the packages from aliexpress. Im in chch

  • Haven't ordered from Ali in a while, got a little too used to Temu.

Anyone have experience with the returns process for Aliexpress? Is it easy/free?

    • +1

It's fine, but I've never had a need to return something to AliExpress before. Honestly not sure why anyone would order from Temu for anything.

      • Honestly the shipping times have been the main reason I've used Temu.

Most of the time I need spare parts or consumables for home I look at aliexpress and then end up ordering on Temu due to shorter ETA, my bad habit is leaving orders til the last minute. So with Temu I usually get the items at a fraction of local pricing and they arrive in an average of 6 days for me.

In my experience Aliexpress refund process is free and you get to keep the item if the item is not as advertised or damaged in transit. I've made dozens of orders, claimed about a dozen refunds, and only once did they deny me full refund, where they messed up shipping consolidation and I received someone else's order (I stopped using Aliex for a few months after that out of protest)

I've never tried a refund for change of mind.

Aliexpress seems to have gotten a lot more price competitive thanks to Temu. I remember pre-Temu their shipping prices started getting ridiculous so I stopped using them until I noticed the prices come down again.

      • This was also my experience back when I used Ali regularly pre covid.

I've seen alot of variety on Ali that is simply missing from Temu, hence my urge to go back to it.
Glad to hear the process is still very much unchanged in the event items arrive damaged or not as advertised! Thanks for your reply!

You have to pay for your return if change of mind, unless its faulty or there mistake. I have no doubt that Temu will drop there free returns once happy with there membership level.

  • Temu costs are marked up. Ali Express shipping times have improved a lot.

  • The SALECD codes show "Sorry, this coupon code is not currently applicable in your country or region". The others seem to work fine.
