  • My two cents worth - I'm with Slingshot now because of this deal but was with Contact before and they were great. I work remotely for an Aus company and performance was top notch, no issues.

    • I have a somewhat less positive experience with Contact. While not terrible, the internet connection did occasionally drop which is usually fixed by restarting the router. I too work remotely so it's frustrating to have dropped calls (once or twice since joining Contact a few months ago) but no significant outage otherwise.

Have joined Slingshot now but the connection doesn't switch to Slingshot until August. I have received the router from Slingshot (Netgear Orbi) and it's much better than the TP Link supplied by Contact (fewer connection drops).

      • +1

Ah, I have my own Google Nest router (standard ISP ones have a limit of 16 connected devices so I upgraded). Much more reliable than the supplied TP ones :/

    • Do you know if they can provision public or static IP at request?

      • 3 years ago they could (https://www.reddit.com/r/newzealand/comments/k1quuk/contact_…) but I haven't tried it

        • Cheers, checking with their support now

          • @aerir: Let us know you you go. I have tried a few times to ask their support, it was an off putting experience.

            • @wearnes: Can't be bothered to ring them yet, sent them a Whatsapp support message and waiting for response. Will update later, I am still leaning towards Quic as ISP

      • I would like to know as well. I don't need Static IP, but definitely need a public IP. Don't want to be behind cgnat.

        • Haha, you ask this everytime this deal comes up.

Customers are put behind CGNAT by default but can ask to have it removed.

Source: Am currently on Contact with no CGNAT (but had to call up to get it removed)

          • @fake: Yes, I ask because nobody yet have confirmed that yet.

Thanks for confirming. My contract is ending this month with slingshot so will go with them now and will make sure to chat with them.

I tried last time to contact support but they didn't reply yes or no. So was still on the fence.

    • hey @beatthatflight, I only got 2 fibre plans showing when I enter promo code. does anyone get more than that?

      • I had that issue. The problem for me was, they didn't provide 4G wireless broadband at my location so it was not showing.

        • oh i see maybe that’s it, thanks!

  • Anyone know if I can join the power by the $100 referral THEN add broadband using the CONTACT300 ? or is it 1 or the other ?

    • +2

You could absolutely do this. Join with referral. You're then a customer. Just like I am.
      Next step, add the broadband.
      Boom, $400 :P
If they still had the mobile offer you could get another $300, haha, sadly that expired.

      • Do you get notified when you've received the credit, or is there any other way to check?

        • No notifications, but you can see credit in your contact account.

    • yep.. done that :) Myself and a friend

    • There referral program has ended. But some of the old referral links are still working. I just tried mine and it is still showing $200 shared bonus. Not sure if they would credit them though. But nothing to lose, if you just sign up for energy first and than with broadband with this offer.

    • I suppose the flip side to this is you miss out on the bundle discount. Above image shows bundled is about $10/month cheaper for the broadband . So in a year its $120 saved vs the $100 referral.

      • wouldn't you still be eligible to get bundle discount though after getting $100 referral?

        • Does the bundle depend on what Elec plan you get? For e.g can you bundle it if you got the free weekends?

  • Wish they offered the fibre 50/10 plan. would be perfect for some low users and dont want to put them on 4G

Can we get a broadband and cancel after 30 days? Does anyone know if the credit still remains?

I am pretty happy with my current provider and don't plan to change but can try do cheapie and get 'some' credit?

Lets say I sign up for $55.00/month 4G and cancel after 31 days.

I might end up paying $55 + prorated for the mid month (lets say $60)

Do I still get to pocket the remaining $240?

    • The terms sum this up for you.

      1. If you leave Contact within 30 days from when you are successfully connected to Contact services, the Offer will cease to apply, and no credit or refund will be given. Contact reserves the right to investigate any activity it suspects to be fraudulent or not in good faith. Contact reserves the right to decline the Offer or remove the credit from your account if it considers you have acted fraudulently or not in good faith.

      2. The Offer credit is not transferable, refundable nor redeemable for cash or cash equivalents.

      • -2

I swear it will be in "good faith" (for me) :)

    • I dont think they pro rate, and you have to give 30 days notice. So you may end up paying for 3 months - $55, plus $4 modem rental, plus $15 postage, - close to $200. So you might pocket just over $100.

  • I previously add broadband in January, but canceled in February. However, the bill still show broadband fee after two months. complained to customer service many times and then they return one month credit

    • How did you return the modem? Did they send you the courier bag to send back the modem?

      • BYO, not their modem

  • +1

Making a parent comment re CGNAT - got a response from support and they have confirmed they do not provision public or static IP.
Suggested me to look at OneNZ and Spark instead :)

    • I got the same response.

Kia ora Contact offers a private and dynamic IP address👍

    • +1

There is so much misleading info on this.

They do provision public IP (no CGNAT) but don’t offer static IP. You just have to ring up to request to be taken off CGNAT.

Source: am with Contact and called up to get CGNAT removed.

      • Thank you, that’s good to know

      • Did you do it before the connection date or after?

        • +1

I did it after the connection date

      • I only reconvey the info I have from the support.
Since there is not contract for this deal, I guess you could always give it ago and hope they will pull you off from CGNAT.

  • +1

Looks like you can use code 100NEW to sign up and then this one to add broadband… they've got me :-)

    • +2

Shoulda used the ref system, ud get the 100 but so would a cheapie

      • Ah didn't realise it was still an option, I read above that their referral program has ended.
        Sorry team!

        • We believe it's ended for now

          • +1

@A-deals: no, the old/existing links still work.

    • Hey @MrSomeone How did you manage to use both?did you wait for them to give you an account number and stuff? It's not letting me use the broadband promo if I add it straight after I joined contact power with the referral lol? Thanks!

    • this is doesn't work on Good Night plan?
