The Extra Large 365 plan was last offered a couple of months back here for $294 so this saves an extra $44 per year.

    • +5

AHHHH I want my $44 back haha

Great timing, thank you. Last year's black Friday package is expiring in November so perfect upgrade from the large plan. Thanks @bigcheese for posting.

    • I too have the large plan from Black Friday deals. The large plan is enough for me. What’s the chances we will see another Black Friday deal on the large plan?

      • Chances are pretty likely, they've continued to run a black friday sale for at least the last 2 years

  • +2

I'm porting over from 2D. It's only taken me 18 months to finally decide the jig is up.

  • Mighty Mobile doing something too. Not as exciting. 30% off yearly plans.

I wonder if they will do the usual Black Friday deals for other plans?

    • +2

I would expect something for Black Friday.
Last Year's Black Friday offer was between 30%-50% of small, medium & large plans but obviously no guarantees.
The fact that you need to purchase this voucher by the 3rd November gives room for another offer next month.
If you use a lot of data then this offer is about as good as it would get for 32Gb of data per month though.

      • Yeah don't really need this much. Large is enough for me. Looked at my history and I bought those in Mid Nov each year. Black Friday is usually a guaranteed event so should be quite safe.

        • Hahahaha you don't have kids and don't hotspot on road trips!

          • +5

@Dan Baker: In fact I have 2. But we don't let them look at devices on the road.

Page not found - but I think the URL was just updated…

    • Cheers - Kogan always do this!
It was working when I posted but they have now changed the URL so I have amended the link.

  • I just started the $30 a month XL deal from last month…… …oh well at least it's monthly for up to 2 years as long as it's renewed.

    https://www.cheapies.nz/node/48446

    • I would still jump off the current offer and lock in this rate since its so good.

    • I'd cancel that and do this, it's like $10 a month, $120 savings over a year

      • $20 a month…

        • +1

The savings are approx $10 per month.
          Old plan $30 - this plan @~$20 = ~$10

        • $10 a month savings from the previous deal that the OP posted

  • Do they have esim?

    • no, oz has.

      • Thanks

  • How are you folks running Kogan dealing with shortcode texts?

    • +2

I thought we could use them now on Kogan…

    • +2

      They now work with Kogan

      • Awesome, good to know. How do they charge for them, or do they not?

    • +1

      its sorted now.

      • Awesome, good to know. How do they charge for them, or do they not?

        • +2

          No charge it seems

  • With an existing Kogan line, will I be able to use my current number if I get on one of these special deals?

    • +2

Yes, when you register your voucher on Kogan mobile New Zealand, you have the option

      • Thanks!

  • I am still having the issue porting my One NZ number to Kogan. It has been a week that it has not been done. I have been chasing and chasing. It seems this is a common issue if you move from One NZ to Kogan. I gonna cancel my One NZ on account plan and move my One NZ to prepay for now as I can't pay for both. Quite disappointed.

    • you shouldnt be on a account plan but on prepay to break that contract first. i switched from prepay.

      • Yes, I am planning to contact One NZ to move it to prepay first and try again. I don't want to pay for the next bill.

      • I also checked the comments about complaining Kogan to TCF. It seems it doesn't help with this issue.

    • +3

Make sure you don't insert the Kogan SIM until you've completed porting the number. Also try porting during business hours.

I had a lot of trouble porting my number but was eventually successful. Those are the only two factors I could narrow it down to.

If the confirmation text doesn't show up more or less immediately then I don't think it will ever show up.

      • yea, the confirmation text goes to your former simcard so you gotta wait for that before changing sims. i just tried a couple of times till i got the text after an hour.

        • My phone was dual SIM so I figured I would just insert the Kogan one in the second SIM slot.

I think there might be some check to see if the SIM being ported to is active on the network and it won't let it go through if it is.

    • I spent about 2 weeks last year to switch from 2Degrees to Kogan. Terrible service. It's run from India and they always promise it will be fixed within 12/24/36 hours.
In the end escalated it and then someone was looking into it.
I think I made a typo in the sim card number which caused all the trouble.

My other 2Degrees card was fine.

    • I had this issue with one number on a family plan years back. The other 3 moved the same day and my main number took 3-4 weeks to sort out.

  • Been with kogan since they launched here. Really good value. Anyone know if there's a way to text internationally other than Aussie? It's the one thing that has stopped my partner joining, I can only find an international add on for calling not sms

    • Why to use a chat app for texting international?

Again, another Kogan plan (though I wish they bring back the BOGOF)

This is the only one on offer so far.

384GB/year split equally on 12 months
    Unlimited standard calls & texts*
    Bring your own device
    Fast 5G network speeds

Effectively this is only 4% more than BOGOF…. Still an amazing deal

      • +1

        Agreed.

For many, possibly most people, this is a far better deal that BOGOF, as the pricing is almost exactly the same, but you aren't forced to buy two.

Mighty mobile 10mbps unlimited for 279 a year, this one, or wait for BF? Hmm..

      • Mighty mobile 10mbps unlimited for 279 a year, this one, or wait for BF?

Why would you want to pay $279 at Mighty rather than $250 at Kogan?

Am I missing a 'gotcha' with Kogan?

Unlimited data vs 32 GB at a guess, albeit at a slower speed

Good point - not much of a 'gotcha' for me, as I'll never get near 32GB, but I'm sure some will :-)

            • -1

@Alan6984: The 'gotcha' is Mighty Mobile is owned by Mighty Ape Ltd which in turn is owned by Kogan.
It's all going to the same parent im the end whichever way you go.

Not sure how that's a 'gotcha'?

However, you are correct that they are ultimately both owned by the same outfit.

        • Yeah, basically it's unlimited capped at 10mbps Vs 32gb uncapped speeds.

On one hand it's really difficult to hit 32gb a month, but that's about 1gb a day which isn't that impossible especially if you forgot to turn on WiFi and go on to YT.

I don't do that kind of thing, so no real difference to me personally :-)

$245 after the $5 credit you get if you sign up for their newsletter/sign up for their account.

    • Hey thanks for this, I can't see any mention of this on their website. do you just get it automatically when you sign up?

      • Try opening the page on desktop in incognito mode. You should see a popup in the bottom right.

        • Thanks!

  • Deal is still live if anyone else was leaving it to the last minute then forgot about it…

    • This usually happens.
From past experience it will disappear at some stage today so I would get in quick if anyone is still wanting this deal.

      • I wonder if a 2-for-1 deal is coming this week? It's usually about this week of November it happens.

        • They mix it up so you never know what's coming.
This month has Singles Day on the 11th as well as Black Friday later on which you would expect something to come through but no guarantees.

  • How long did everyone have to wait for their SIM to arrive? Dispatched on the 30th and still waiting….

    • Have you received it? Mine was dispatched on the 5th and still waiting too.

      • Yeah it arrived in the mail yesterday. 2 full weeks for delivery

        • It has now been 15 days since dispatched and nothing lol

          • @Elwrold: You should contact them to follow up as it should have arrived by now.
Login to your Kogan account and find the order you made for the sim card. Next to it you will see an option to message customer care for Kogan (not Kogan Mobile as you would think). You can then select 'My order has not arrived'.

            • @bigcheese: Thank you, I did that 1 hour ago and they already sent another SIM card. If the new one also doesn't have a tracking number will be painful.
